RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (September 19, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. For way 2 many stats on this week’s new update, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

“STAY” AWHILE: For the third consecutive week, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber have the #1 tune on the Top 40 chart with “Stay”. Though the collaboration loses spins for the first time this week, it’s still about 2,000 spins ahead of the song in the runner-up position.

This week’s top debut also belongs to Bieber with “Ghost”, his 37th top 40 hit to date, which bows at #34. Debuting at #37, Drake leaps onto the chart with the Future and Young Thug-assisted “Way 2 Sexy”, which recently entered at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The release from Certified Lover Boy is the 32nd top 40 hit for Drake and sixth for both featured artists. Rising from 44-39, “Chasing Stars” is now in the top 40 for Alesso, Marshmello and James Bay, which also ranks in the top 30 on the Hot AC list. At the pop format, the song marks their fourth, 12th and second top 40 hits, respectively. Lastly, Madison Beer lifts from 43-40 with “Reckless”, her fourth top 40 entry to date.

From his recent chart-topping album Donda, “Hurricane” is in at #45 on the list for Kanye West, The Weeknd and Lil Baby. Speaking of babies, “Woo Baby” checks in at #47 for the late Pop Smoke and Chris Brown. The tune is currently moving up in the top ten at Rhythmic radio, where “Hurricane” is just outside the top 20. Finally, the Jonas Brothers sneak in at #50 this week with “Who’s In Your Head”.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (August 3, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: skating for the win, it’s Silk Sonic and their golden amount of adds. Let’s add ’em up:

“SKATE” LOOKS GREAT: The Top 40 format is headed to Mars… Bruno Mars, that is. His latest collaboration with Anderson .Paak as Silk Sonic, titled “Skate”, leads this week’s adds report with 95 stations on impact. The tune also led the logs at the Hot AC, Rhythmic and Urban formats yesterday and today, earning close to 220 adds across all four. Look for it to perform well into the fall, as we await the release date of their full-length effort An Evening With Silk Sonic.

“Industry Baby”, the big collaboration from Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, remained in second place for another week with 39 more adds. A notch lower, Khalid rounded out the top three with “New Normal”, securing 27 adds on impact.

Charting singles from Bazzi, Camila Cabello and Måneskin returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (July 27, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: it’s yet another win for Camila Cabello at the pop radio format. Let’s add ’em up:

“GO” GETS GOING: For the first time in a while, the top seven songs on this week’s adds report (five of which officially impacted) haven’t previously appeared in the top ten on the usual Tuesday update. In the lead with a big 153 first-week stations, Camila Cabello easily took the top spot on the log with “Don’t Go Yet”, a song which debuted at #30 this past Sunday. It also led the report at the Hot AC format yesterday.

The second and third place entries were separated by one add: with 66 stations in a pre-impact week, “Industry Baby” started in the runner-up position for Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow. The single remains at #1 on Spotify on the U.S.-based chart and continues to do well on other platforms. Meanwhile, Bazzi earned his 65 adds for “I Like That”, as he aims to score his highest-charting song at the format in 2-1/2 years.

Rounding out the top five this week, social media star Dixie started in fourth place with the Rubi Rose-assisted “Psycho” at 34 adds, while the return of Swedish House Mafia earned them 33 stations for the Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake-assisted “Lifetime”, coming in fifth.

Charting singles from Normani, Pop Smoke and Post Malone returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Here’s what’s sweet, sour and popping on the chart this week:

“GOOD” EVENING: With her second #1 song of the year so far, Olivia Rodrigo climbs from 2-1 on the Top 40 chart with “Good 4 U”. It’s also up to #9 on this week’s Hot AC chart. Rodrigo has now achieved four top 40 songs from the Sour album at the pop format since January, the newest of which is just down the page…

Camila Cabello leads four new tunes in the top 40 with “Don’t Go Yet”, which bows way up at #30 after only two days of airplay. This is her 15th top 40 entry outside of Fifth Harmony and the first from her upcoming album Familia. The second posthumous top 40 single for Pop Smoke is “Demeanor”, which debuts at #37. Taken from the album Faith, the track features Dua Lipa, who scores her 15th top 40 hit at the format. Speaking of Fifth Harmony, Normani struts onto the survey at #39 with the Cardi B-assisted “Wild Side”. The new collaboration is the fourth solo top 40 hit for the former and the tenth for the latter. Finally, the aforementioned Rodrigo blasts from 46-40 with “Traitor”.

Eurovision winners Måneskin add some Italian flavor to the Top 40 radio chart with “Beggin’”, their remake of a 1967 tune from The Four Seasons, which checks in at #44. The current top ten song on the Alternative chart for Twenty One Pilots, “Saturday”, is next at #45. New at #46, Alessia Cara is back in the mix with one of two cuts she just released simultaneously, “Sweet Dream”. Lastly, with the current chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100, BTS are in at #48 with “Permission To Dance”. It can be found as the b-side to their current hit “Butter”.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (July 20, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Pop Smoke pops to the top in a collaboration with pop star Dua Lipa. Let’s add ’em up:

THIS LIST IS SMOKIN’: “Demeanor” scores the top spot on the adds report at the Top 40 format with 62 stations, as the late Pop Smoke teams with Dua Lipa on the lead single from his posthumous Faith album. The song also led the adds report at the Rhythmic format with 46 commitments there. The album is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while the tune should continue to rise through the end of the summer.

In second place on both the Top 40 and Rhythmic reports, Normani and Cardi B earned 53 and 46 adds, respectively, with “Wild Side”. A new track from Alessia Cara also cracked the top five on the pop radio log, as “Sweet Dream” placed fourth with 36 stations on impact.

Charting singles from Billie Eilish, Maroon 5 and Post Malone returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (July 19-20, 2021)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are five new songs impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo drove big activity on the new report at the format, but who ended up on top? For those hits and much more, let’s add ’em up:

DRIVER’S SEATED: Disney star and singer Olivia Rodrigo has a massive sales and streaming smash with “Driver’s License” and radio is taking notice, as it leads the Top 40 adds report one week before impact. The track speeds in with 65 early stations and will likely enter the top 40 by the weekend, especially given all the new momentum for it. It will be Rodrigo’s first song to chart here.

Two recent collaborations also made the top five on the log: coming in with a solid 34 stations, Saweetie and Doja Cat entered in third place with “Best Friend”, while Zara Larsson and Young Thug took fourth place with 30 stations for “Talk About Love”.

Further down the list, LOONA lands in the top ten for the first time with “Star”, while The Kid LAROI‘s “Without You” secures a few more early believers and sneaks into the region. The former scores another 17 adds, tying for sixth place, while the latter has 14 and ties for ninth.

Charting singles from Ed Sheeran and the late Pop Smoke returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Olivia Rodrigo’s new hit looks to continue to drive up the adds report when it officially impacts next week.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (January 3, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. As we march into the first full week of 2021, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

STATE YOUR POSITIONS: The first #1 song of 2021 belongs to the same one that led the last chart of 2020: Ariana Grande is at #1 on the Top 40 list for the third week with the title track from her album Positions. “34+35” holds at #13 for the second week. It remains to be seen whether or not “POV” will start to rise again, which was added by a few stations during the last session of 2020.

Justin Bieber‘s “Anyone”, his fourth top 40 single since September and 33rd entry overall, enters at #39 this week. It was released this past Friday. Up from 41-40, the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira sneak into the region with “Girl Like Me”. The track marks the 21st top 40 hit for the group and the 12th for Shakira, who appears in the top 40 for the first time since 2014.

This week’s top 50 entries are by K-pop act LOONA and the late rapper Pop Smoke. The former’s “Star” comes in at #47, marking their first charting song at the format. The latter’s “For The Night”, which features Lil Baby and DaBaby, is two spots lower at #49 on the chart. The collaboration also moves from 2-1 to become the new leader at the Rhythmic format this week.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (December 8, 2020)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: All Time Low ends our 2020 logs with a monster win at the format! The last impact date of the year just concluded, so let’s add ’em up:

LOW GOES HIGH: Crossing over from the Alternative radio chart, where it’s placed at #1 for 12 of the last 13 weeks, “Monsters” by All Time Low and Blackbear is the Most Added single at the Top 40 format with 50 stations on impact. A new remix with Demi Lovato was released last week. This is the band’s largest impact week to date and will easily earn them their highest-charting tune at the format by the end of the month.

In second place, Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Body” earned another 30 commitments this week, as it also approaches the top 40 here on the pop chart. It was the week’s Most Added single at the Urban format, collecting a huge total of 65 stations, while also landing another 25 adds on the Rhythmic report, where it secured the runner-up position.

Charting singles from Jason Derulo, Pop Smoke and The Weeknd returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.
