RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Four

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
BRIGETTA & JAKE SCOTT – “How Did We Get Here?” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance / first appearance

Both of these performers were featured in separate episodes of the NBC songwriting competition Songland, though neither had the winning pitch for their respective artist. Now, the pair is together again and making fantastic music, including this beautiful ballad.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
FLY BY MIDNIGHT – “The Ad Above Your Head” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: 14th appearance

After recently moving to Los Angeles, the duo of Justin Bryte and Justin Slaven are wasting no time flying back onto the Rewind. A slight change of pace from some of their more recent tunes, the men still manage to put together a good song with a dreamy sound.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
JT ROACH – “Unforgettable”
MAX GEORGE – “That’s Not Me”

RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Two

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
NIGHTLY – “The Movies” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

After several years signed in the Interscope family, this duo from Nashville has been releasing music independently since the fall. If their new song is any indication, they’d be great at providing the soundtrack to some nostalgic films. It’s a cool softer new wave cut.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
SHY MARTIN – “Slow” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fourth appearance

Talented singer and songwriter Martin returns to the Rewind for her first appearance of the new year, and as the title appropriately suggests to us, she’s taking the tempo down on this release. Luckily, this stripped back and vulnerable ballad is a winner this week.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
COLONY HOUSE – “Where I’m From”
EMMANUEL FRANCO – “Do Me Like A Drug”
KODALINE – “Wherever You Are”

RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week One

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
GABRIELLE APLIN & NINA NESBITT – “Miss You 2” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fourth appearance / Nesbitt is signed to Cooking Vinyl (via Sony’s The Orchard)

Just about three years after Aplin’s original version was released, which I didn’t cover on the Rewind at the time, this new take with Nesbitt landed towards the top of the new releases I listened to last week. The latter performer is a good fit and it still sounds fresh.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
LAUV – “Changes” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: 21st appearance

With his latest song off the forthcoming album ~How I’m Feeling~, due March 6, Lauv is feeling pretty reflective and vulnerable. A sobering ode to making resolutions and shifting one’s priorities in life, the lyric remains hopeful. It’s a nice tune heading into 2020.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
HANNAH GRACE – “When I Ruled The World”
THE MOWGLI’S – “Wasting Time”

Want to be featured on this weekly wrap-up? Submit your music to adamfsoybel@gmail.com and I’ll check our your tunes. Thanks!
