ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (August 17, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Lizzo and Cardi B tackle some rumors and records and end up at the top. Let’s add ’em up:

“RUMORS” HAS IT: With 148 stations on impact, “Rumors” is truthfully the Most Added tune at the Top 40 format, as Lizzo and Cardi B earned a big win on the report. The pair also took in 59 and 57 first-week adds at the Rhythmic and Urban formats, respectively, topping the reports there as well. Last Sunday, the collaboration debuted at #29 on the pop chart and should move up nicely through the fall.

In a distant second place, Billie Eilish secured another 43 stations on impact for the title cut from her recent album Happier Than Ever. It replaces “NDA” at radio, which just peaked at #25 without a bullet last week. Finishing in third place, WizKid landed at 32 new stations on impact with the Justin Bieber and Tems-assisted “Essence”.

Charting singles from Måneskin, Olivia Rodrigo and The Weeknd returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: The Weeknd breathes some new life into the adds report with a big win. Let’s add ’em up:

“BREATH” CONTROL: The Top 40 radio panel took a breath and found “Take My Breath” in rare air at the top of the report. Scoring 165 stations on impact, the new single from The Weeknd dominated this week, pacing more than 100 adds ahead of the song in second place.

Looking for her fourth big hit from the album Sour, Olivia Rodrigo landed in third place on the log with another 49 stations on impact for “Traitor”. Finishing in fourth, “Hit It” earned 41 adds on impact, a collaboration from the Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie and Lele Pons.

Charting singles from Bazzi, Måneskin and Masked Wolf returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: skating for the win, it’s Silk Sonic and their golden amount of adds. Let’s add ’em up:

“SKATE” LOOKS GREAT: The Top 40 format is headed to Mars… Bruno Mars, that is. His latest collaboration with Anderson .Paak as Silk Sonic, titled “Skate”, leads this week’s adds report with 95 stations on impact. The tune also led the logs at the Hot AC, Rhythmic and Urban formats yesterday and today, earning close to 220 adds across all four. Look for it to perform well into the fall, as we await the release date of their full-length effort An Evening With Silk Sonic.

“Industry Baby”, the big collaboration from Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, remained in second place for another week with 39 more adds. A notch lower, Khalid rounded out the top three with “New Normal”, securing 27 adds on impact.

Charting singles from Bazzi, Camila Cabello and Måneskin returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (August 2-3, 2021)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are five new songs impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

Past T40 History: Khalid is looking for his 13th top 40 single. His collaboration with Tate McRae (“Working”) is still in the top 20.

LIL NAS X & JACK HARLOW, “Industry Baby” (Columbia)
Album: TBA (2021)
Past T40 History: “Industry” landed at #32 on the most recent chart update. It’s their fifth and second top 40 entries, respectively.

MADISON BEER, “Reckless” (Sing It Loud/Epic)
Album: TBA (2021)
Past T40 History: Since the spring of 2020, Beer has entered the top 50 with three singles, with the highest (“Baby”) going to #39.

OLIVIA PENALVA, “Ex’s” (Decoded/Virgin)
Album: TBA (2021)
Past T40 History: This singer has already witnessed some multi-format airplay in her native Canada, but has never impacted here.

SILK SONIC, “Skate” (Aftermath Ent./Atlantic)
Album: An Evening With Silk Sonic (2021)
Past T40 History: The duo’s new tune entered at #46 on Sunday’s update. “Leave The Door Open” reached a #5 peak back in May.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (August 1, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Put on your skates and glide into what’s popping this week:

FOR THE “GOOD” TIMES: Up over 200 spins for the week, pop star Olivia Rodrigo stays at #1 on the Top 40 chart for the second week with “Good 4 U”, taken from the album Sour. This is her seventh total week at the summit on the pop airwaves in 2021.

Five new titles enter both the top 40 and the top 50 this week, with Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow‘s “Industry Baby” leading the way. Landing at #32, the collaboration marks their fifth and second top 40 singles at the format, respectively. Italian breakouts Måneskin are up from 44-34 on the Top 40 radio chart with their cover of “Beggin’”, becoming their first U.S. pop hit. Bazzi scores his first top 40 entry in more than a year with “I Like That”, his fifth time on the survey, which lands at #35. Twenty One Pilots rise from 45-37 on the list with “Saturday”, now a five hit on the Alternative radio chart and the duo’s eighth top 40 single to date at the Top 40 format. Finally, Tesher moves from 42-39 on the chart with the Jason Derulo-assisted “Jalebi Baby”, becoming their first and 24th entries in the region, respectively.

TikTok personality Dixie D’Amelio has a debut at #42 with her labelmate Rubi Rose-assisted “Psycho”, while the Swedish House Mafia, Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake collaboration “Lifetime” starts its chart life at #45. A notch lower, Silk Sonic has a silky smooth entrance at #46 with “Skate”, the new single from their upcoming album An Evening With Silk Sonic. Next, format newcomer SEB reaches the “Seaside” and the top 50 on the pop chart with his viral demo recording, which comes in at #49. Finally, Masked Wolf slides in at #50 with “Say So”.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: it’s yet another win for Camila Cabello at the pop radio format. Let’s add ’em up:

“GO” GETS GOING: For the first time in a while, the top seven songs on this week’s adds report (five of which officially impacted) haven’t previously appeared in the top ten on the usual Tuesday update. In the lead with a big 153 first-week stations, Camila Cabello easily took the top spot on the log with “Don’t Go Yet”, a song which debuted at #30 this past Sunday. It also led the report at the Hot AC format yesterday.

The second and third place entries were separated by one add: with 66 stations in a pre-impact week, “Industry Baby” started in the runner-up position for Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow. The single remains at #1 on Spotify on the U.S.-based chart and continues to do well on other platforms. Meanwhile, Bazzi earned his 65 adds for “I Like That”, as he aims to score his highest-charting song at the format in 2-1/2 years.

Rounding out the top five this week, social media star Dixie started in fourth place with the Rubi Rose-assisted “Psycho” at 34 adds, while the return of Swedish House Mafia earned them 33 stations for the Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake-assisted “Lifetime”, coming in fifth.

Charting singles from Normani, Pop Smoke and Post Malone returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

WHAT’S ON “TAP”: During a slow week at the format, Saweetie’s “Tap In” narrowly made it across the finish line to be the Most Added song at the Top 40 format, impacting with 27 stations. In second place, newcomer Zoe Wees put up another 21 stations for “Control”, while Billie Eilish finished in third with 20 more adds for “My Future”.

No other impacting titles entered the top ten.

Charting singles from Avenue Beat and Jack Harlow returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Juice WRLD‘s posthumous collaboration with Marshmello is all gooey and toasted at the top of the adds report. Let’s have a snack and add ’em up:

WHAT’S THE JUICE?: From the recent #1 album Legends Never Die, Juice WRLD and Marshmello’s “Come & Go” easily grabs the Most Added title on this week’s Top 40 report, scoring 58 stations on impact. The single also adds another seven stations at the Alternative format from today’s log, where it lands in fifth place. Look for the tune to do well on both charts: at Top 40, it will enter the top 50 by the weekend with a high debut.

Blackbear‘s “Queen Of Broken Hearts” remains strong for its official impact date after a fourth place finish last week. The track is in with another 30 stations, giving it the runner-up spot on the report. Zara Larsson‘s “Love Me Land” also had a great start with 26 adds in its first week, good for fourth place. There was also some action on Zedd and Jasmine Thompson‘s “Funny”, landing in fifth place with 22 stations, which compliments its twelve adds and second place finish from yesterday’s Hot AC adds update.

Charting singles from Avenue Beat and Kane Brown returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (July 14, 2020)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the trio of Kane Brown, Khalid and Swae Lee sway the pop panel and find themselves at the top of the adds report. Let’s add ’em up:

YES, HE KANE: With 85 adds in its opening week, “Be Like That” by Kane Brown, Khalid and Swae Lee easily takes the top spot. The big collaboration, which is already flying towards the top 40 at the format, also secured a half dozen adds at the Hot AC format on Monday’s update, two weeks ahead of its impact date there.

Look out for Blackbear‘s new single “Queen Of Broken Hearts”, which impacts at the end of July. This week, it’s starting out early with a total of 24 stations, good for a fourth place finish. It will easily reach the top 50 before its official adds date.

Another new song in the top ten is Avenue Beat‘s “F2020”, which ties for eighth place with 15 stations this week. After going viral on the video platform TikTok, the trio released a full version, which is reacting nicely at both digital retail and streaming.

Charting singles from Ava Max, Jack Harlow and Jackson Wang returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.
