ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (July 27, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: it’s yet another win for Camila Cabello at the pop radio format. Let’s add ’em up:

“GO” GETS GOING: For the first time in a while, the top seven songs on this week’s adds report (five of which officially impacted) haven’t previously appeared in the top ten on the usual Tuesday update. In the lead with a big 153 first-week stations, Camila Cabello easily took the top spot on the log with “Don’t Go Yet”, a song which debuted at #30 this past Sunday. It also led the report at the Hot AC format yesterday.

The second and third place entries were separated by one add: with 66 stations in a pre-impact week, “Industry Baby” started in the runner-up position for Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow. The single remains at #1 on Spotify on the U.S.-based chart and continues to do well on other platforms. Meanwhile, Bazzi earned his 65 adds for “I Like That”, as he aims to score his highest-charting song at the format in 2-1/2 years.

Rounding out the top five this week, social media star Dixie started in fourth place with the Rubi Rose-assisted “Psycho” at 34 adds, while the return of Swedish House Mafia earned them 33 stations for the Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake-assisted “Lifetime”, coming in fifth.

Charting singles from Normani, Pop Smoke and Post Malone returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

We’ll see you next week for another action-packed adds session.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (July 25, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Here’s what’s sweet, sour and popping on the chart this week:

“GOOD” EVENING: With her second #1 song of the year so far, Olivia Rodrigo climbs from 2-1 on the Top 40 chart with “Good 4 U”. It’s also up to #9 on this week’s Hot AC chart. Rodrigo has now achieved four top 40 songs from the Sour album at the pop format since January, the newest of which is just down the page…

Camila Cabello leads four new tunes in the top 40 with “Don’t Go Yet”, which bows way up at #30 after only two days of airplay. This is her 15th top 40 entry outside of Fifth Harmony and the first from her upcoming album Familia. The second posthumous top 40 single for Pop Smoke is “Demeanor”, which debuts at #37. Taken from the album Faith, the track features Dua Lipa, who scores her 15th top 40 hit at the format. Speaking of Fifth Harmony, Normani struts onto the survey at #39 with the Cardi B-assisted “Wild Side”. The new collaboration is the fourth solo top 40 hit for the former and the tenth for the latter. Finally, the aforementioned Rodrigo blasts from 46-40 with “Traitor”.

Eurovision winners Måneskin add some Italian flavor to the Top 40 radio chart with “Beggin’”, their remake of a 1967 tune from The Four Seasons, which checks in at #44. The current top ten song on the Alternative chart for Twenty One Pilots, “Saturday”, is next at #45. New at #46, Alessia Cara is back in the mix with one of two cuts she just released simultaneously, “Sweet Dream”. Lastly, with the current chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100, BTS are in at #48 with “Permission To Dance”. It can be found as the b-side to their current hit “Butter”.
