RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (March 27, 2022)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. This week’s chart is all dressed up and fashionably fun:

CASE OF THE X: Lil Nas X holds at #1 on the Top 40 radio chart with “That’s What I Want”. It’s his third nonconsecutive week there.

Taken from the soundtrack to HBO’s Euphoria, “I’m Tired” jumps from 41-36 for Labrinth and Zendaya, as the two performers score their fourth and third top 40 hits, respectively. Next, “Mamiii” rises from 42-38 for Becky G and Karol G. It’s their fifth and first top 40 songs on the chart, respectively. (Sadly, there’s no word on a remix with Gina G and Kenny G at this time.) Finally, Eddie Benjamin is up from 43-40 this week with the meteorological and musical-approved “Weatherman”, which becomes his first top 40 hit.

Four songs enter the top 50 this week: “To The Moon” is the highest at #43, as newcomer JNR Choi debuts with his recent viral release. The tune samples “Talking To The Moon”, a Sam Tompkins cover of a popular Bruno Mars album cut. Chart mainstay Doja Cat lands at #45 with “Get Into It (Yuh)”, the fifth single from her Planet Her album at the format. Newcomer Charlotte Sands is new at #48 with “Dress”, a song which originally broke on TikTok in late 2020. Finally, The Weeknd is in at #50 with “Out Of Time”, taken from his Dawn FM album.
