Charting singles from G-Eazy, Jason Derulo and Why Don’t We returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Next week: as we head out to the polls for Election Day, David Guetta and Sia are up against Ritt Momney in the battle to grab pop radio’s vote for president(s) of the adds report.

Past T40 History: Styles now earns his sixth solo top 40 song at the format. “Watermelon Sugar” recently spent seven weeks at #1.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 25, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. We hope you’re in the mood for some songs and stats. Let’s see what’s popping at the format this week:

HEART OF GOLDN: Format newcomers 24KGoldn and Iann Dior leap from 3-1 on the Top 40 chart with “Mood”. The song is doing well across several other U.S. formats: it climbs to #2 on this week’s Rhythmic chart and is moving through the top 15 and top 25 on the Alternative and Hot AC radio charts, respectively.

Ariana Grande has the week’s top new entry with “Positions”, a song that blasts into the #28 spot after only two days of airplay. It marks the singer’s 23rd top 40 single at this format. It’s also the title cut from her upcoming album, which is out on Friday. Up from 45-34 on the survey, Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat are moving quickly with “Baby, I’m Jealous”. The entry gives the two women their 17th and fourth top 40 hits, respectively. Harry Styles is next in line, as he rises from 47-39 with his sixth solo top 40 hit and third from his Fine Line album, “Golden”. Lastly, up a single notch to #40, Madison Beer achieves her third top 40 single with “Baby”.

In the top 50, G-Eazy and Blackbear come in at #42 with “Hate The Way”, their first charting collaboration. Joji checks in at #47 with the song he hopes will become his second top 40 single at the format, “Your Man”. Singer and songwriter Julia Michaels also makes it onto the list this week with “Lie Like This”, which starts at #48, while Bea Miller sneaks in at #49 with “Feel Something”.

For those of you craving some Ocean Spray and a little Fleetwood Mac, the legendary group’s 1977 chart-topper turned 2020 viral hit “Dreams” would’ve been at #52 this week if it was converted back to current status. If any changes are made, we’ll let you know.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (October 20, 2020)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco prove that it’s lonely at the top, but a few other performing records crashed the top five as well. Let’s add ’em up, shall we?

MISTER “LONELY”: After landing in the top 40 on this past Sunday’s published chart, the new Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco collaboration “Lonely” leads today’s Top 40 adds report with 147 stations on impact.
