NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of August 4, 2017

Brett’s lookin’ at a “Good” debut.

This popular country singer has built up a solid amount of hit tunes since 2013, and his self-titled fourth studio album is sure to give him some more. The first full-length album from Josh Ostrander’s latest project is now in stores, featuring the Triple A chart-topper “Shine” and current radio single “Automatic”. It should have a solid debut next week, especially on the Alternative chart.

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of July 28, 2017

Now is the time for chart glory.

There’s a sizable Fire burning among the albums being released this week, and plenty of notable names from the worlds of pop, rap and rock music. Here are the albums and singles you need to know this Friday:

ARCADE FIRE – Everything Now (iTunes)
With two #1 albums in a row, it’s no surprise that the fifth studio release by this Canadian sextet is the leading contender for the top spot next week. The title track from it is currently in the top 20 on the Alternative chart, and #1 on the Triple A list. Many of the reviews for it appear to be mixed thus far, though it’s still early on in the process.

CAGE THE ELEPHANT – Unpeeled (iTunes)
Led by the single “Whole Wide World”, this is a new live album by the Kentucky band, featuring both singles and album cuts off their past studio albums. Their previous release, 2015’s Tell Me I’m Pretty, had a top 30 peak and gave them two #1 titles on the Alternative chart. Will this set achieve the same results? Stay tuned!

JULIA MICHAELS – Nervous System (iTunes)
This singer has plenty of notable hits to her credit as a songwriter, and she entered the top ten on both Hot AC and Top 40 radio earlier this year with “Issues”. Now, follow-up “Uh Huh” is making some solid gains at the latter format. You’ll find these singles and more on this seven-song set.

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of July 21, 2017

A Rey of light on the charts.

It’s the middle of July, so get stuck in the middle of all these grand rock and rap releases hitting stores today. It’s sure to be one mighty musical match for #1! Here are the notable albums and singles this week:

LANA DEL REY – Lust For Life (iTunes)
After taking a small Honeymoon two years ago, the New York City singer and songwriter is ready for more love from the buying public with her fourth major-label album. It features a number of interesting collaborations, with performers like Stevie Nicks and The Weekend (on the title track) in the mix. Del Rey’s fan base is pretty big at this point, and I imagine they’ll be doing all they can to ensure a #1 debut for their queen.

MEEK MILL – Wins & Losses (iTunes)
This popular rapper is just below the top ten on Urban radio with the single “Whatever You Need”, featuring Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign. His previous set, Dreams Worth More Than Money, netted him some money when it debuted at #1 in 2015. On this particular week, it’s going to be harder to reach the top spot, but Mill could pull it off again.

TYLER, THE CREATOR – Flower Boy (iTunes)
Since 2011, all three of this rapper’s studio albums have reached the top five on the Billboard 200 chart with minimal radio play. So, this one should be another easy top five for the 26-year-old, given the millions of streams from his previous sets. “I Ain’t Got Time!” was the most recent single from the release, coming out earlier this week.

FOSTER THE PEOPLE – Sacred Hearts Club (iTunes)
Featuring “Doing It For The Money”, which ranks in the top 15 on the Alternative chart, this quartet (once a trio) is looking for a third top ten album on the Billboard 200. Three songs on this album appeared on an EP called III, which was released in April.

More albums out this week: Declan McKenna‘s What Do You Think About The Car? (iTunes), In This Moment‘s Ritual (iTunes), Romeo Santos‘s Golden (iTunes), Sage The Gemini‘s Morse Code (iTunes), Vera Blue‘s Perennial (iTunes), Descendants 2 (Soundtrack) (iTunes)

More EPs out this week: TBA

“’93 (Acoustic)”, Youngr (iTunes)
“Ahead Of Myself”, X Ambassadors (iTunes)
“Back To You”, Louis Tomlinson featuring Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals (iTunes)
“Body And Soul”, Kat Dahlia (iTunes)

Some Jungle fever this week.

You can break out the sunblock, but don’t block out the hits! Another summer weekend brings up fresh new releases from many great acts. Check out the notable albums and singles this week:

FRENCH MONTANA – Jungle Rules (iTunes)
Can’t speak French? Let this funky music do the talking. Hot off his crossover smash “Unforgettable”, featuring Swae Lee from Rae Sremmurd, this album is poised to be a top-seller next week. The rapper’s previous album, Excuse My French, entered at #4 on the Billboard 200 four years ago, though he’s released a number of mixtapes and collaborations since that effort. Will this debut at the top? We’ll find out very soon.

COLDPLAY – Kaleidoscope (iTunes)
With their first new music since the A Head Full Of Dreams album at the end of 2015, this popular English band is searching for their fifth #1 release on the Billboard 200 chart. Unfortunately, it’s likely not going to happen, but its sales should be fairly solid. One of the tracks on this EP is a remix of “Something Just Like This”, with The Chainsmokers, which got to #1 on the Hot AC and Top 40 charts earlier this year.
