ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (April 5, 2022)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Harry Styles nearly closed the panel in stylish fashion. Let’s add ’em up:

“WAS” WINS: Harry’s House is in the house at the Top 40 format, as the first single from the forthcoming Harry Styles album had a huge day on the adds report with 174 stations reporting on impact. The robust total is just three adds shy of clearing the panel in one week, a very impressive feat. At the Hot AC format, the song was added at 81 of the 94 stations on the panel yesterday. On the pop chart, the song started at #26 on last weekend’s published update, becoming the seventh solo chart entry for Styles to date.

Shawn Mendes also had a fairly strong first week for “When You’re Gone”, which earned 129 stations and a second-place finish. The track took the runner-up position at the Hot AC format yesterday with 51 adds there. It recently became his 13th top 40 hit to date.

Charting singles from Doja Cat, Em Beihold and Pharrell Williams also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: The Weeknd has a timely new release for the pop panel. Let’s add ’em up:

“TIME” TO IMPACT: The Weeknd easily led this week’s adds report at the Top 40 format with “Out Of Time”, in with 62 adds on impact. It also had a solid performance at the Hot AC format, earning 21 stations in its first week and a first place finish as well.

In second place, Pharrell Williams scored 27 adds for “Just A Cloud Away”. The single originated on the soundtrack to 2013’s Despicable Me 2, but recently went viral on TikTok and continues to perform very well.

Charting singles from Eddie Benjamin, Em Beihold and Fireboy DML also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (March 20, 2022)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Don’t lose sight of these emerging records…

X-TRA TIME: Five weeks ago, Lil Nas X led the Top 40 radio chart with “That’s What I Want”, his third consecutive #1 hit from the album Montero. Now, it returns to the top for a second nonconsecutive week. All three cuts have now spent a combined total of five weeks at the top spot since July of last year.

In the top 40, “Don’t Forget My Love” jumps from 43-37 for Diplo and Miguel, taken from the former’s self-titled release. It’s the ninth solo credit for Diplo in the top 40, while Miguel earns his sixth entry into the region. Mimi Webb heats up from 42-38 with “House On Fire”, the second top 40 entry for the singer in under a year. It recently reached the top ten in both the U.K. and Ireland. Iann Dior climbs from 44-39 with “Let You”, also marking his second top 40 hit at the format. Lastly, Jena Rose lifts from 41-40 with “Checkmate”, her first top 40 song.

From HBO’s Euphoria, “I’m Tired” is in at #41 on the chart, as Labrinth and Zendaya enter with their first collaboration together. The duo Lawrence debuts at #44 with “Don’t Lose Sight”, which was recently heard in a Microsoft commercial. Ylona Garcia entertains the format at #46 with “Entertain Me”, while Yung Bleu and Kehlani decorate with #48 spot with “Beautiful Lies”, a recent #1 single on the Rhythmic radio chart.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (March 1, 2022)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Kygo and DNCE get the Top 40 radio panel dancing and reporting. Let’s add ’em up:

“FEET” DON’T FAIL ME NOW: It was a more moderate start for the new collaboration from Kygo and DNCE, which led the adds report at the Top 40 format this week. “Dancing Feet” waltzed in with 59 stations on impact, well ahead of the tracks tied for the runner-up spot. It also tied for the Most Added title at the Hot AC format yesterday, scoring another 18 adds there. “Dancing” edged in at #49 on the pop chart last weekend and is currently seeing a nice climb for the next published update.

Watch out for emerging releases from Diplo & Miguel (18 adds) and Mimi Webb (17 adds), which are also beginning to see some action.

Charting singles from Avril Lavigne, Dove Cameron and Em Beihold also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

THE GAYLES OF FEBRUARY: Format newcomer GAYLE earns her first #1 song at the Top 40 format with “Abcdefu”, rising from 2-1 in its 12th week in the countdown. It’s taken from her upcoming EP titled A Study Of The Human Experience (Volume One), due on March 18.

Actress and singer Dove Cameron leaps from 49-40 with “Boyfriend”, marking this week’s only top 40 entry. It’s her first song to chart.

In the top 50, there are three additional debuts: Diplo and Miguel come in at #48 with “Don’t Forget My Love”, which appears in the top 20 at the Dance radio format. Next, Kygo and DNCE shimmy into the #49 spot with “Dancing Feet”, a tune which impacts at the Top 40 format this week. Lastly, the #1 song at the Rhythmic and Urban formats starts at #50: “Super Gremlin”, new from Kodak Black and Syko Bob.
