ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (March 15, 2022)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa have a tasty pie for the pop panel. Let’s add ’em up:

THE “SWEETEST” THING: Earning 140 stations on impact, “Sweetest Pie” is the delicious and deserving winner of the Most Added title at the Top 40 radio format, as the collaboration from Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa is off to a quick start. Last weekend, it became their seventh and 17th top 40 hits, respectively, and could end up just outside the top 20 by the weekend.

The only other impacting title of note comes from Eddie Benjamin, who tied for seventh place with 20 adds for “Weatherman”. The single entered at #49 on last weekend’s chart and should move up a bit with the new activity. It’s his first song to impact here.

Charting singles from Dove CameronEm Beihold and Tate McRae also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (March 8, 2022)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran jam some “Bam” into the adds report. Let’s add ’em up:

MORE ED-UCATION: Taken from her forthcoming album Familia, Camila Cabello landed at the top spot on this week’s adds report with the Ed Sheeran-assisted “Bam Bam”, earning 158 stations on impact. It launched at #35 on the Top 40 chart last weekend, marking the 16th solo top 40 hit for Cabello and the 26th overall for Sheeran. Look for the song to see some larger chart moves in the next few weeks.

5 Seconds Of Summer also had a robust impact week for “Complete Mess”, starting in second place on the log with 117 stations. The tune came in at #37 on last weekend’s official chart, becoming the group’s 12th top 40 single at the Top 40 format. It tied with “Bam Bam” for the Most Added title at the Hot AC format yesterday, earning 36 adds there.

Another handful of new releases ranked just below the top five on this week’s adds report. Of note, “I’m Tired” started with 19 stations and a sixth-place finish, as Labrinth and Zendaya continue to ride a wave of streaming momentum from HBO’s Euphoria.

Charting singles from Dove CameronEm Beihold and Mimi Webb also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Kygo and DNCE get the Top 40 radio panel dancing and reporting. Let’s add ’em up:

“FEET” DON’T FAIL ME NOW: It was a more moderate start for the new collaboration from Kygo and DNCE, which led the adds report at the Top 40 format this week. “Dancing Feet” waltzed in with 59 stations on impact, well ahead of the tracks tied for the runner-up spot. It also tied for the Most Added title at the Hot AC format yesterday, scoring another 18 adds there. “Dancing” edged in at #49 on the pop chart last weekend and is currently seeing a nice climb for the next published update.

Watch out for emerging releases from Diplo & Miguel (18 adds) and Mimi Webb (17 adds), which are also beginning to see some action.

Charting singles from Avril Lavigne, Dove Cameron and Em Beihold also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

A DOVE AND BEYOND: With this week’s Most Added track, former Disney star Dove Cameron impacted with 51 stations for the TikTok-fueled “Boyfriend”, which continues to perform well at various streaming services. It’s her first song to receive regular airplay at the format.

The new collaboration from Saweetie and H.E.R. ranks in the runner-up spot with 39 more adds: “Closer”, which led the report last week.

Charting singles from Anitta, Ed Sheeran and Tate McRae also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (February 20, 2022)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. There’s a “Ghost” with the most at #1 and much more ahead…

THIS JUSTIN: Scoring his 12th #1 song to date at the Top 40 format, Justin Bieber rises from 3-1 on the pop radio chart with “Ghost”. At the Hot AC and AC formats, it holds at #6 and #11 again this week, respectively.

Ed Sheeran appears on two songs reaching the top 40 on this week’s pop chart: climbing from 41-30, his Taylor Swift-assisted “The Joker And The Queen” has a particularly royal rise, marking their 25th and 35th top 40 entries, respectively. Bolting from 46-38, Tate McRae gets her fourth top 40 hit to date with “She’s All I Wanna Be”. Finally, it’s Sheeran again with his 26th entry as a featured artist on “Peru”, the first top 40 hit for Nigeria’s Fireboy DML. The song advances from 44-39 this week.

Iann Dior slides in at #48 with “Let You”, a track from his recent album On To Better Things. Actress and singer Dove Cameron debuts at #49 with “Boyfriend”, a recent viral hit that was teased on TikTok. Finally, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma check in at #50 with the title song of the soundtrack to their film Marry Me, which opened earlier this month.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Saweetie and H.E.R. get closer to being added by the full Top 40 panel. Let’s add ’em up:

UPON “CLOSER” INSEPCTION: Flying high in the Top 40 skies, the buzzing collaboration from Saweetie and H.E.R is off to a fast start at the Top 40 format. “Closer” picked up 110 adds on impact, making it the Most Added song of the week. It also dominated at the Rhythmic format with another 53 adds there. “Closer” debuted at #39 on the Top 40 chart last week and looks to move well this week.

Another notable collaboration managed a strong second place finish on the log: “The Joker And The Queen”, which teams Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. It scored 76 adds this week, just ahead of the 74 that came in Monday at the Hot AC format, where it led that report. It began at #41 on the Top 40 chart last week.

Charting singles from Anitta, Lauren Spencer-Smith and Tate McRae also returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

TRIPLE X: With his third #1 song from the album Montero, Lil Nas X leaps from 3-1 on the Top 40 radio chart with “That’s What I Want”. It also hits the top ten at the Hot AC format this week, advancing from 11-10.

There are three debuts in the top 40 this week: Anitta earns her third top 40 hit to date with “Boys Don’t Cry”, climbing from 43-38. Coming in at #39, Saweetie and H.E.R. are new to the chart with “Closer”, taken from the former’s upcoming debut album Pretty Bitch Music. This collaboration marks their sixth and second top 40 entries, respectively. Finally, the cast of Encanto moves from 41-40 with the global hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, which marks the first song from a Disney animated feature to reach the top 40 at the format since the fall of 1999.

Ed Sheeran enters at #41 with his Taylor Swift-assisted version of “The Joker And The Queen”, which can be found in its original form on his album = in 2021. Sheeran was a featured artist on two of Swift’s top 40 entries in 2013 and 2017, respectively.   • Despite losing its bullet, “Oh My God” holds at #1 on my personal chart for a third week, as Adele and her hit face some challenges from tracks by artists like Benson Boone, GAYLE and Lauren Spencer-Smith. Newcomer Em Beihold climbs up the chart from 40-28 with the TikTok-fueled “Numb Little Bug”, making it the Biggest Mover within the countdown. Two titles are new this week: at #31, “The Joker And The Queen” pairs Ed Sheeran with longtime friend and collaborator Taylor Swift. The original solo version of the tune can be found on his album =, which topped the Billboard 200 chart during the fall. Further down, Tate McRae enters at #35 with “She’s All I Wanna Be”, which officially impacts at the Top 40 radio format (along with the Sheeran and Swift collaboration) on Tuesday.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: don’t cry for me, Anitta… the truth is that you scored the most adds this week. Let’s add ’em up:

“BOYS” AND GIRLS UNITE: Anitta is on the verge of her third top 40 song at the pop format with “Boys Don’t Cry”, which picked up 45 stations this week and landed in first place on the adds report. Meanwhile, Tiësto and Ava Max finished in second place with “The Motto”, securing another 35 adds from the panel.

One week ahead of its official impact date, “She’s All I Wanna Be” managed a fourth-place finish for Tate McRae. It earned 30 stations this time around and is likely headed for many more next Tuesday.
