RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (March 20, 2022)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Don’t lose sight of these emerging records…

X-TRA TIME: Five weeks ago, Lil Nas X led the Top 40 radio chart with “That’s What I Want”, his third consecutive #1 hit from the album Montero. Now, it returns to the top for a second nonconsecutive week. All three cuts have now spent a combined total of five weeks at the top spot since July of last year.

In the top 40, “Don’t Forget My Love” jumps from 43-37 for Diplo and Miguel, taken from the former’s self-titled release. It’s the ninth solo credit for Diplo in the top 40, while Miguel earns his sixth entry into the region. Mimi Webb heats up from 42-38 with “House On Fire”, the second top 40 entry for the singer in under a year. It recently reached the top ten in both the U.K. and Ireland. Iann Dior climbs from 44-39 with “Let You”, also marking his second top 40 hit at the format. Lastly, Jena Rose lifts from 41-40 with “Checkmate”, her first top 40 song.

From HBO’s Euphoria, “I’m Tired” is in at #41 on the chart, as Labrinth and Zendaya enter with their first collaboration together. The duo Lawrence debuts at #44 with “Don’t Lose Sight”, which was recently heard in a Microsoft commercial. Ylona Garcia entertains the format at #46 with “Entertain Me”, while Yung Bleu and Kehlani decorate with #48 spot with “Beautiful Lies”, a recent #1 single on the Rhythmic radio chart.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 24, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. For the top songs and performers, both old and Yung, let’s see what’s popping at the format this week:

KID PLUS 8: “Stay” earns an eighth week at #1 on the Top 40 radio chart, as The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber continue their run with the longest-running #1 song of 2021 at the Top 40 format. It also remains atop the Hot AC radio chart, now in its third week there.

We’ve seen a pair of top 40 hits from Elton John (1981) and Emblem3 (2013) about a girl named “Chloe” and now the performer who bills herself simply as Chlöe enters the top 40 for the first time. “Have Mercy” moves from 41-39 this week, as the tune continues to approach the top ten on the Rhythmic and Urban radio charts. Meanwhile, Trevor Daniel jumps from 42-40 with his third top 40 song thus far, “Alone”. It interpolates “Better Off Alone”, the only chart hit at the format for Alice Deejay, which spent four weeks at #19 in the spring and summer of 2000.

In the top 50, Anitta and Sweetie lead four new entries in the region with “Faking Love”, which starts at #47. One spot lower, Charli XCX is in with “Good Ones” at #48. Her new release also appears in the top 50 on the Hot AC chart this week at #47, but with a significantly lower spin total. Imagine Dragons re-enter at #49 with “Follow You”, a former #1 hit on the Alternative radio chart from earlier this year. On the Top 40 chart, the track peaked at #47 in the late spring and hasn’t ranked in the top 50 since June. Lastly, at #50, Yung Bleu starts with the Chris Brown and 2 Chainz-assisted “Baddest”, a current top five hit on the Rhythmic and Urban charts.
