RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (July 22-23, 2019)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are six new tracks impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

CHRIS BROWN featuring DRAKE – “No Guidance” (RCA)
Album: Indigo (2019)
Past T40 History: Despite his history on the Rhythmic and Urban lists, Brown last charted as a lead artist here with 2016’s “Zero”.

NF – “Time” (Caroline)
Album: The Search (2019)
Past T40 History: Of the rapper’s three chart songs to date, the biggest was the #1 smash “Let You Down” from March of last year.

ONEREPUBLIC – “Rescue Me” (Mosley/Interscope)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: Though this band continues to chart well at the Hot AC format, it’s been 2-1/2 years since they last ranked here.

SAM FELDT featuring RANI – “Post Malone” (Spinnin’/Warner)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: Neither artist has charted here. Feldt’s 2015 cover of Robin S’s “Show Me Love” scored some minor pop airplay.

SAM SMITH – “How Do You Sleep?” (Capitol)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: After landing just below the top 50 on last Sunday’s update, Smith is looking for his third #1 song at the format.

STEPHEN PUTH – “Look Away” (Arista/RED)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: This is Puth’s first cut to see a wide release at the Top 40 format. He is the brother of chart-topper Charlie Puth.

Next week: No songs are currently listed as impacting at the format, but that could soon change…
