Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. For all the important juicy fruit facts and chart champs, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:
POP GOES THE PEACHES: Justin Bieber climbs a notch to the top of the pop radio chart with Daniel Caesar and GIVĒON-assisted “Peaches”. This is his second #1 song of 2021: he previously led the list for a week in February with the Benny Blanco-assisted “Lonely”.
The international dance hit “Friday” moves up from 42-38 on the chart for four artists that are all scoring their first top 40 entry here: Riton and Nightcrawlers, both DJ acts, as well as featured artists and social media personalities Mufasa and Hypeman. A notch lower, there is one other newcomer checking into the top 40 this week: Brazilian star Anitta, who blasts onto the list at #39 with “Girl From Rio”.
Newcomer Mimi Webb leads a pack of top 50 entries with “Good Without”, which comes in at #44. It recently entered the top 20 nationally in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Just behind her, NF lands at #45 with “Just Like You”, the second top 50 entry from the mixtape Clouds at the format. (The title track spent a week at #50 in late March.) Coldplay is hoping to earn their first top 40 single since 2017 with “Higher Power”, which bows at #47. Finally, at #49, Major Lazer is back on the chart with the Sia and Labrinth-assisted “Titans”.
