TURN IT UP TUESDAY: What’s New In Stores This Week (July 9)

We like to "Party".

We like to “Party”.

Did you see that tumbleweed roll across your screen? Yeah, that’s what it’s looking like this week. Here’s your retail report for the small pack of releases for July 9:

  • If you’re still partying like it’s Independence Day, then you might wanna give a listen to “Body Party” hitmaker Ciara‘s latest album, a self-titled effort. It also features a new collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “I’m Out”. It should be the second highest debut on next week’s survey next to Jay-Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail, which was a Samsung exclusive freebie on July 4 and went to retail on this week. I featured that as the top release on last week’s update. [Ciara: (iTunes)] [Jay-Z: (iTunes)]
  • Featuring the top 40 pop single “C’mon Let Me Ride”, Skylar Grey‘s album, Don’t Look Down, is out this week. She previously released an album in 2006 as Holly Brook. (iTunes)
  • He hit the Country charts plenty in the 90’s and now, Travis Tritt is out with The Calm After…, featuring a cover of the Don Henley/Patty Smyth duet, “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough”, featuring his daughter Tyler Reese. (iTunes)
  • Climbing the Urban AC chart with “Beautiful”, R&B singer Donell Jones is back with Forever, his first album in three years. (iTunes)

New digital-only singles that you can buy this week include:

  • “Acapella”, finally hitting digital retailers from the swag pop duo Karmin. (iTunes)
  • “Exotic”, new from Priyanka Chopra featuring rapper Pitbull. (iTunes)
  • “How Long Has This Been Going On?” from latin superstar Gloria Estefan. (iTunes)
  • “Overcomer”, new from gospel singer and former American Idol contestant Mandisa. (iTunes)

We pick up some speed again next week with singer-songwriters like Matt Nathanson and Sara Bareilles and dance legends like the Pet Shop Boys, but will the Kidz Bop Kids school them and hit the top? Find out in seven!
