Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. The pop chart is looking pretty explosive, so let’s see what’s sparking up at the format this week:
STILL IN STYLES: Harry Styles remains at #1 on the Top 40 radio chart for a fourth week with “Watermelon Sugar”, now more than 3,300 spins ahead of Dua Lipa‘s former chart-topper “Break My Heart” in the runner-up spot. The giant hit is ready for a fifth week at the top, as it continues to climb through the top five at Hot AC radio.
Two songs jump into the top 40 this week: Miley Cyrus bolts from 41-28 with her 13th top 40 single at the format, “Midnight Sky”. Meanwhile, K-pop septet BTS launches at #32 with “Dynamite”, their sixth top 40 entry to date. The tune recently broke a YouTube record when its music video scored just over 101 million views in its first day alone. It impacts at the pop format on Tuesday and will most likely finish as the Most Added song on the report.
In the top 50, Drake debuts at #46 with the Lil Durk-assisted “Laugh Now Cry Later”, while Dan + Shay‘s “I Should Probably Go To Bed” comes in at #48. The former song is about halfway up the chart on both the Rhythmic and Urban formats, while the latter is cruising through the 20’s on both the Country and Hot AC lists.
