RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 9/10 – 9/16/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

COURTSHIP. – “Tell Me Tell Me” (Spotify)
This Los Angeles group last appeared on the Rewind in June with “Perfect People”, which was featured in late August in Entercom’s new artist integration program for the Alternative radio format, 7×7. Their newest upload is a catchy catchy piece of retro retro pop.

_____

KENZIE NIMMO – “Bones” (Spotify)
This is Nimmo’s first single to be featured on the Rewind, though she was a part of an April 2015 post about several contestants in a competition to open iHeartMedia’s annual Festival in Las Vegas. That soft pop sound is a winner for me, as well as that lovely voice.

_____

MARTIN LUKE BROWN – “Opalite” (Spotify)
This singer’s “Into Yellow”, released in June, was his most recent entry to be spotlighted on the Rewind. The tune recently crossed a million streams on Spotify. As always, Brown sounds great, as he tries to experiment with layered arrangements and bigger sounds.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
LEO KALYAN – “Temptation” (SoundCloud)
UNION MOON – “Build A Fire After Dark” (SoundCloud)
VÉRITÉ – “Saint (Tigertown Remix)” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 6/18 – 6/24/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

COURTSHIP. – “Perfect People” (iTunes) (Spotify)
The Los Angeles duo of Eli Hirsch and Micah Gordon continues to craft excellent cuts for the blog world, with “Love For Everyone” and “Sunroof” among my favorites from them. “Perfect” has a lovely nostalgic feel, sounding like a nod to late 70’s California rock.

_____

KAPTAN – “Better” (iTunes) (Spotify)
I’ve been a big supporter of Andrew de Torres’s current project on the blog for a couple of years now, though he hasn’t appeared in a Rewind post since “Numbers” in July 2016. Well, you can re-examine those numbers now, as his alternative pop jam gets started.

____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
Bel Heir – “California High” (SoundCloud)
RKCB – “Vice” (SoundCloud)
Sam Tinnesz featuring Super Duper – “Babel” (SoundCloud)
Super Duper featuring Daniella Mason – “Nothing Scares Us” (SoundCloud)
VÉRITÉ – “Control” (SoundCloud)

WE THE BEST RELEASE DATE! (ahem) Sorry, I don’t know what came over me. One could say that DJ and producer Khaled Khaled is capable of yelling any portion of the phone book, and people would probably throw their money at it. Streaming-equivalent units on this one could be giant, so stayed to see how high it goes!

IMAGINE DRAGONS – Evolve (iTunes)
If there’s any act releasing this week that has a whole lot of believers, it’s this Las Vegas quartet, who found that their song “Believer” was destined to become a huge Alternative crossover hit. Though some online reaction to other songs has been mixed (I’m looking at you, “Thunder”) thus far, the album should have a healthy sales week, debuting at the top or runner-up position.

_____

BRUNO MAJOR – “Places We Won’t Walk” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Major points for Mr. Major on an excellent new tune this week, a precious ballad that’s a good addition to winding down the day. It marks the tenth release in his A Song For Every Moon project, and I can’t wait to hear the final few songs from it later this summer.

_____

VÉRITÉ – “Saint” (iTunes) (Spotify)
We’re just under three weeks away from the release of this performer’s Somewhere In Between, and the latest track to be revealed from the album blends alternative and electronic sounds into one big production. I’m really looking forward to hearing the full set.

_____

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 4/30 – 5/6/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

BRUNO MAJOR – “Fair-Weather Friend” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Major’s lovely lunar project continues on with another stellar entry, which is probably my favorite cut since November’s “Easily”. It brings me back to those great neo soul artists from the late 90’s or early 00’s, like D’Angelo and Maxwell. I love that smooth sound.

_____

LOSTBOYCROW – “Devil’s In The Backseat” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Just last month, this Los Angeles performer was featured on the Rewind with “Real Name”. So, I guess the real name of the game is that he has another winner. When it comes to killer songs, this R&B-flavored track puts him in the front seat and driving to the top.

_____

VÉRITÉ – “Bout You” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Singer Kelsey Byrne is out with another single off her Somewhere In Between album, due June 23, one of my most anticipated sets for the summer. Though I enjoyed “When You’re Gone”, the strong melody and dramatics of this one makes it more instant for me.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
courtship. – “Sunroof” (SoundCloud)
Emily Warren – “Hurt By You” (SoundCloud)
Late Night Episode – “Talk About Love” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 3/26 – 4/1/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

NELLY FURTADO – “Sticks And Stones” (iTunes) (Spotify)
“What? She’s back?” Yes, she is, and she’s going the independent route this time. This set is pretty raw at times, but it also feels like a true artistic record. Of course, I feel that Jamie Scott can do wrong, and this wouldn’t sound out of place on Graffiti6’s second album.

_____

NICK WILSON – “Bare” (iTunes) (Spotify)
At the beginning of the year, I heard a really interesting remake of Ariana Grande’s “Into You” performed by this U.K. singer, and I’m glad I took down the name. This original song is a very solid indie pop track, influenced by a funky guitar line and synthpop elements.

_____

VÉRITÉ – “When You’re Gone” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Streaming darling Kelsey Byrne has been slaying major playlists effortlessly across a number of services in the past few months, with her latest tune receiving adds on some prominent lists focused on new releases. The edgy pop winner is bold, but quite hooky as well.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
Bantug – “Just Like A Dream” (SoundCloud)
Bruno Major – “Second Time” (SoundCloud)
Jesse Hale Moore – “Ringing In Your Ears” (SoundCloud)
