Chart Notes:

  • Elton John and Dua Lipa continue their strength at the top of my personal chart with “Cold Heart”, now in its seven week at the summit. John’s latest release The Lockdown Sessions is out now and should have a moderate entry on the Billboard 200 early next month. To no one’s surprise, Adele has the Biggest Mover on my chart with “Easy On Me”, which jumps from 18-7 on its way to the top spot. Meanwhile, Scott Helman beautifies the top 40 with this week’s only debut: “Pretty”, which comes in at #40.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 10, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. The spot for fresh faces and delightful debuts is looking super, so let’s check out what’s popping at the format this week:

THE GIFTED KID: Once again, the dynamic duo of The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber earn a sixth week at #1 on the Top 40 chart with “Stay”. The collaboration is also the new #1 song at the Hot AC format this week, moving up two spots from last week.

TikTok star and singer Nessa Barrett lifts from 44-38 with her second top 40 hit at the format, “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead”, taken from her recent EP titled Pretty Poison. The Anxiety (the duo of Willow and Tyler Cole) debuts at #39 with “Meet Me At Our Spot”, their first top 40 hit as a pair and Cole individually, but the second overall for Willow. Finally, Monsta X picks up their third top 40 song for “One Day”, advancing from 43-40.

Three solo men and their latest songs are new to the top 50, led by Troye Sivan and “Angel Baby” at #46. Newcomer Vaultboy checks in at #49 with “Everything Sucks”, a viral track that spread on TikTok earlier this year, while Trevor Daniel gets inspired by some Alice Deejay and lands at #50 with “Alone”.

Chart Notes:

  • Pop star Dua Lipa is back at the top of my personal chart with her ninth tune to reach the summit: “Love Again”, jumping from 3-1. Her latest single becomes the record-extending sixth #1 song taken from the original version of her Future Nostalgia album. With her ninth #1 hit overall, she is tied with Coldplay and Taylor Swift, who are also at that threshold. Silk Sonic are skating up the countdown from 39-28 with “Skate”, becoming the Biggest Mover of the week. On the bottom of the list, we have one debut this week: a recent viral song from independent newcomer Vaultboy. “Everything Sucks” sneaks in at #40.
