ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (November 9, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Post Malone and The Weeknd have the right song to lead the report. Let’s add ’em up:

“ONE” IS ONE: Post Malone and The Weeknd easily earned the Most Added slot on the report with “One Right Now”, picking up 147 adds on impact. The collaboration also managed a notable 50 stations in its first week at the Rhythmic format, leading that log as well. “One” also took fourth place on the reports at both the Hot AC and Urban formats this week with 11 and 18 adds, respectively.

The duo Silk Sonic (featuring Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) settled into second place with 42 adds for “Smokin’ Out The Window” at the Top 40 format. The tune had an additional 14 adds at the Hot AC format yesterday, where it tied for the runner-up position.

Charting singles from Billie Eilish, GIVĒON and Oliver Tree returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G spend several more days on top of the report. Let’s add ’em up:

EVEN “BETTER” NOW: For the second consecutive week, “Better Days” takes the Most Added title at the Top 40 radio format, as the big collaboration from NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G picks up 54 more adds. It debuted at #28 on last weekend’s published chart and will fly into the top 20 soon. The song is seeing little activity outside of the format, with just a handful of Rhythmic adds coming in since last week.

Most of the activity trailed off from there, but emerging singles from Charli XCX, Chlöe and Oliver Tree also had solid performances.

Charting singles from CKay, Pitbull and The Anxiety returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: a TikTok-fueled single from NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G has some big days to come at the format. Let’s add ’em up:

“BETTER” TOGETHER: After a recent viral run on TikTok, the Top 40 format is appreciating some “Better Days” ahead due to NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G, whose collaboration took the top spot on the adds report with 87 stations on impact. The track is expected to have a fairly high debut in the top 40 by the weekend, which will be the first charting hit for both NEIKED and Muller here. It also comes five years after NEIKED last impacted at the Top 40 format with the Dyo-assisted “Sexual”, which did not chart.

In second place, the current collaboration from Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd also finished well for its impact date. “Moth To A Flame” fluttered with 54 stations this week. It should also see a good ascent by the weekend, as the group prepares for their second top 40 entry from an upcoming album titled Paradise Again.

Charting singles from CKay, GIVĒON and The Anxiety returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (October 19, 2021)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the easiest winner of the year is, of course, Adele. Let’s add ’em up:

“EASY” DOES IT: As expected, it was a huge week for Adele at the Top 40 format with “Easy On Me”. It’s now the eighth title in the plays-per-week era to clear the entire panel in one week, scoring all 179 adds on impact. In fact, across the United States and Canada, the track got 528 adds in total when combining all formats. The lead single from 30 debuted at #22 on the Top 40 chart last weekend.

In second place, Anitta picked up 36 adds for the Saweetie-assisted “Faking Love”. The collaboration also performed well at the Rhythmic format, landing in the same runner-up position with another 33 stations there. The single marks the follow-up to “Girl From Rio”, which got as high as #22 the pop chart for Anitta this past July.

Rounding out the top three, Imagine Dragons finished in third place with “Follow You”. It impacted and earned 25 new stations, bringing its historic total to 42. The song spent five nonconsecutive weeks at #1 at the Alternative format between April and July.

Charting singles from Coldplay, Jesy Nelson and The Anxiety returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the Top 40 format gets anxious, as The Anxiety continues to perform. Let’s add ’em up:

SEE “SPOT” RUN: The format continues to embrace the first top 40 single for The Anxiety, the duo of Willow and Tyler Cole, who take the top spot on the adds report with “Meet Me At Our Spot”. With 33 new adds this week, it finished only one station ahead of the impacting “Boyz”, a new collaboration from Jesy Nelson (formerly of Little Mix) and Nicki Minaj.

The only other impacting song of note is “Chosen”, which tied for fourth place this week with 22 adds. It’s the first time in the top five on the adds report here for Blxst, though his collaborators Tyga and Ty Dolla $ign have ranked high in the past.

Charting singles from Lil Nas X, Nessa Barrett and Trevor Daniel returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 10, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. The spot for fresh faces and delightful debuts is looking super, so let’s check out what’s popping at the format this week:

THE GIFTED KID: Once again, the dynamic duo of The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber earn a sixth week at #1 on the Top 40 chart with “Stay”. The collaboration is also the new #1 song at the Hot AC format this week, moving up two spots from last week.

TikTok star and singer Nessa Barrett lifts from 44-38 with her second top 40 hit at the format, “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead”, taken from her recent EP titled Pretty Poison. The Anxiety (the duo of Willow and Tyler Cole) debuts at #39 with “Meet Me At Our Spot”, their first top 40 hit as a pair and Cole individually, but the second overall for Willow. Finally, Monsta X picks up their third top 40 song for “One Day”, advancing from 43-40.

Three solo men and their latest songs are new to the top 50, led by Troye Sivan and “Angel Baby” at #46. Newcomer Vaultboy checks in at #49 with “Everything Sucks”, a viral track that spread on TikTok earlier this year, while Trevor Daniel gets inspired by some Alice Deejay and lands at #50 with “Alone”.

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the pop radio universe is revolving around Coldplay and BTS. Let’s add ’em up:

A UNIVERSAL REPORT: After starting in second place last week, “My Universe” earned another 38 adds this week, as Coldplay and BTS have the Most Added song at the Top 40 format. The collaboration entered at #32 on the survey this past weekend and flew to #1 on the Hot 100 update from earlier this week. Last week’s leader from Lil Nas X fell to second place, as “That’s What I Want” picked up 34 more adds.

The first track to impact at the format from the K-pop group TWICE was just behind them at 32 adds this week, with “The Feels” coming in third place. At 28 adds and a fourth place start, Trevor Daniel is in with “Alone”, which he hopes will become his second #1 hit to date.

Rounding out the top five and moving up from last week’s report, The Anxiety (the duo of Willow and Tyler Cole) secured an additional 24 adds for “Meet Me At Our Spot”.

Charting singles from GIVĒON and the Jonas Brothers returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

“WANT” FLAUNTS: The third top 40 song from Montero is a smash on the pop airwaves, as Lil Nas X claimed the top spot on this week’s adds report at the Top 40 format. “That’s What I Want” scored 73 new stations during today’s session, which was ten adds ahead of the song that settled into the runner-up spot: “My Universe”, the buzzy collaboration from Coldplay and BTS. Given its 63 adds on impact, the tune should chart in the coming days.

Outside of the top three, new releases from GIVĒON, The Anxiety and Troye Sivan also entered the top ten for the first time.

Charting singles from the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber and Walker Hayes returned to the top ten on the adds report this week.

RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (September 27-28, 2021)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are five singles impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

Past T40 History: This new release should easily become the 14th top 40 hit for Coldplay on the Top 40 list and the ninth for BTS.

Past T40 History: This performer led the Top 40 list for four weeks earlier this year assisting Justin Bieber on the track “Peaches”.

LIL NAS X, “That’s What I Want” (Columbia)
Album: Montero (2021)
Past T40 History: Lil Nas X just picked up his sixth top 40 hit with this song, which is also the third from his new album Montero.

THE ANXIETY, “Meet Me At Our Spot” (MSFTS/Roc Nation/in2une)
Album: The Anxiety (2020)
Past T40 History: This duo features Willow, who holds in the top 50 on the list with her Travis Barker-assisted “Transparentsoul”.
