RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Twenty Two

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
CAL – “Catch” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

You may remember Cal Shapiro as one half of the Boston duo Timeflies, who scored a minor top 40 single on the pop radio chart in 2016 with “Once In A While” and released their most recent track in early 2019. The lighter piano pop tune is a very pleasant listen.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
STELA COLE – “Goldrush” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance

Eureka! We’ve found it! Actually, we’ve known about Cole and her musical metals for some time now: her last two singles, “Woman Of The Hour” and “Love Like Mine”, were included on the Rewind earlier this year. Unsurprisingly, this song is a nice pop treasure.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
DYLAN – “Guilty”
ELIO – “LA In Two”
JOY OLADOKUN – “Breathe Again”
PHOEBE RYAN – “Reality”
POLLY MONEY – “Astrid”
THE BLOSSOM – “Won’t Leave My Bedroom”
THE WLDLFE – “New Age Meds”

RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Fourteen

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
JAKE SCOTT – “Like No One Does” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fourth appearance

Singer and songwriter Scott continues a year-long musical journey with his third release of 2020 and the fourth to make the weekly Rewind, which also included a duet with singer Brigetta. The rhythmic pop song is another good chapter in this already great cycle.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
STELA COLE – “Love Like Mine” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

Yes, the woman of the hour is extending her hours on the Rewind, so you can take three minutes and eight seconds to stop and bop to her second song of 2020. Co-written with Gigi Grombacher and producer Nicki Adamsson, the tune is bold, hooky and a winner.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
ANSON SEABRA – “Can You Hear Me”
LIZ HUETT – “Far Away From Here”
WOLF – “Ghost”

RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Eight

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
CALL ME LOOP – “Downhill From Here” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

Call it a bop! Looped on our playlist this weekend, the latest single from this English performer has the right dose of playful pop for any lover of the genre. With a quality song and some solid streaming numbers during the last few years, this release should endure.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
LAUREN AQUILINA – “Bad People” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fourth appearance

With her first appearance on the Rewind in nearly a year, Aquilina’s newest single shines with a tender sound that clearly resonates thanks to its strong lyrics. Co-written with Adam Argyle, known for working with Dua Lipa and James Arthur, the song is a winner.

JORDAN FISHER – “Contact”
LAUV – “Modern Loneliness”
