NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of November 16, 2018

Show us a chart-topper…

As the competitors begin their quest to claim the greatest consumption total of the week, only one will win the challenge. Who is vying for first place? Take a look below, because these are the notable digital and physical releases out this Friday:

VARIOUS ARTISTS – The Greatest Showman: Reimagined (Soundtrack) (iTunes)
Given how huge the original soundtrack to this film was in the last year, as well as the artists featured on this set, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be seeing this title at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week. Featuring covers by artists like Kelly Clarkson and P!nk, along with many others, the release should have a solid hold on the charts through the holiday season.

MARIAH CAREY – Caution (iTunes)
With a fan-led campaign lifting the 2001 soundtrack to Glitter to #1 on iTunes and “All I Want For Christmas Is You” making its annual spike ahead of the holidays, look for Carey’s latest set to have a solid debut in the coming days. The album features “With You”, a current top ten hit on the AC chart that’s also nearing the region at Urban AC radio.

LITTLE MIX LM5 (iTunes)
After an unexpected label shift in their native U.K., the four-woman group is ready to slay the charts with their new release. That album is led by the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Woman Like Me”, a top five smash in England that hasn’t done nearly as well here. A decent sales week is still likely for the ladies.

MUMFORD & SONS Delta (iTunes)
Now out with their fourth studio album, the British act shines a “Guiding Light” towards #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single from the project is a very strong chart-topper on the Triple A survey, while also entering the top five at Alternative radio.

MICHAEL BUBLÉ ❤️ (iTunes)
Canadian singer Bublé is learning about emojis just like the rest of us; in fact, he’s named his newest album with one of them. Its radio single, “Love You Anymore”, impacts at the AC format in January. (It’s already charting up north.)

Notable albums out this week: Alec Benjamin‘s Narrated For You (iTunes), Allan Rayman‘s Harry Hard-On (iTunes), Fly By Midnight‘s Rerunning (iTunes), Hailey Knox‘s Hardwired (iTunes), Just Loud‘s Just Loud (iTunes), Paloma Faith‘s The Architect (Zeitgeist Edition) (iTunes), Rozzi‘s Bad Together (iTunes), Trent Dabbs‘s Postiano (iTunes)

Chart Notes:

  • Congrats to Troye Sivan on his second #1 on my chart, “My My My!”, advancing from 3-1 this week. Sivan previously got to the top with 2016’s “Youth”, which had a three-week run that March. His sophomore album is due later this year. A big jump for Niall Horan‘s “On The Loose” puts him one spot away from his fourth solo top ten entry in a row. Moving from 20-11, it easily takes the title of this week’s Biggest Mover. Three new entries make this week’s top 40, with Taylor Swift‘s “Delicate” coming in the highest at #38. It’s the fourth chart single from her current album, reputation. Just below Swift’s latest release in the countdown, “We Were Here” (#39) by Lights and “Over My Head” (#40) by Echosmith also make their debuts. Will any of the three reach the top this spring? You’ll have to come back and see in the coming weeks.

Chart Notes:

  • Singer Janelle Monáe sat atop my chart for two weeks in the spring of 2012 as the featured artist on fun.‘s first of three #1 hits, “We Are Young”. Well, that trio may be long gone from the charts, but Monáe is back in a big way with her single “Make Me Feel”, coming in as the highest debut at #38. Last Thursday, the song was released as one of two cuts from her upcoming album Dirty Computer, due April 27. Look out for “Feel” at several radio formats in the coming weeks, including the Top 40 airwaves, where you may also find this week’s second debut. New at #40, “Not A Love Song” marks the debut of a newcomer named Bülow, a teenage singer who currently resides in The Netherlands, but grew up in several countries like Canada and Germany. Her song impacts at the Top 40 format on Tuesday; check back to see if it makes the Add Lib report that evening.
