Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!
Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____
PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
FLY BY MIDNIGHT – “Waiting Tables” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Eighth appearance
There’s definitely two seats at the table for these guys; I’ve been feasting on their releases for some time now, so the waiting period wasn’t long for this winner to arrive. The mellow retro-tinged pop single combines enough modern elements for a successful result.
PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
HANNAH JANE LEWIS – “Not Yours Never Was” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fifth appearance
Following the release of the Rewind-approved cuts “Do It Without You” and “Last Night Every Night”, Lewis’s latest song is an easy add to the list, which is featured on her new self-titled EP. With so many great pop records in her catalog, she’ll continue to do well.
PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
OVERSTREET – “All Nighter” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance
During the summer of 2017, Overstreet climbed as high as #14 on my personal chart with “Hold On”, though I enjoyed the majority of his songs during a stint with Island Records. Leaning towards a darker rock feel, this one could find support at Alternative radio.
