Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!
Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____
PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
COREY HARPER – “Don’t Hate Me” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance
Starting things off this week, we have the first appearance by a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter that’s been releasing music for several years. This cut was co-written by two blog friends, Donovan Woods and Todd Clark, and it sounds like a future radio hit.
PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
MATT SIMONS featuring BETTY WHO – “Dust” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fifth appearance / Eighth appearance
Though both Simons and Who are no longer in the major label system, they sure are making some great music together. This single from the former’s album After The Landslide, released last Friday, is a super soft pop collaboration that should continue to do well.
PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
WRABEL – “Love To Love U” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance
Two weeks ago, this performer’s new version of a prior single (“I Want You”) was one of the top picks on that edition of the Rewind. So, it’s not a surprise to see him back on here so soon with another original track, a soulful pop cut that showcases his many talents.
