ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (September 24, 2019)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Maroon 5 tops the adds report and conjures up some musical memories, as new releases from Bebe Rexha and Liam Payne also stack their adds high. Let’s add ’em up:

FROM 5 TO 1: The new single from Maroon 5 easily leads the week’s adds report at the Top 40 format, as “Memories” starts with 135 stations on impact. It also led yesterday’s report at the Hot AC format, where it scooped up another 76. The tune is already well into the top 40 at both formats, so expect it to glide up these (and other) charts through the fall months.

Rexha’s “You Can’t Stop The Girl” and Payne’s “Stack It Up”, featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, start in second and third place respectively, with 45 and 40 stations on impact. The former title comes from the soundtrack to Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, which opens on October 18. The latter is expected to appear on a forthcoming album by Payne, though his debut set has yet to materialize in the nearly 2-1/2 years he’s been charting as a solo artist. (An EP, which featured no radio singles, was released last August.) Both tunes are likely to make the top 50 by early next month, as the threshold for charting at the format is noticeably higher as of recent.

Charting releases by Halsey, Lizzo and Taylor Swift are among those prominent songs making up the rest of the top ten.

Look out for more information on next week’s impacting songs on our Monday morning log.

MOST ADDED — THIS WEEK’S TOP TEN
1. MAROON 5, “Memories” (222/Interscope)
2. BEBE REXHA, “You Can’t Stop The Girl” (Warner)
3. LIAM PAYNE featuring A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE, “Stack It Up” (Republic)
4. HALSEY, “Graveyard” (Capitol)
5. ARIANA GRANDE, MILEY CYRUS & LANA DEL REY, “Don’t Call Me Angel” (Republic)
6. LIZZO, “Good As Hell” (Nice Life/Atlantic)
7. THE CHAINSMOKERS & ILLENIUM featuring LENNON STELLA, “Takeaway” (Disruptor/Columbia)
8. TAYLOR SWIFT, “Lover” (Republic)
9-T. KYGO x WHITNEY HOUSTON, “Higher Love” (RCA)
9-T. LIL NAS X, “Panini” (Columbia)

RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (September 23-24, 2019)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are four new titles impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

BEBE REXHA – “You Can’t Stop The Girl” (Warner)
Album: Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil (Soundtrack) (2019)
Past T40 History: This is Rexha’s second single from a film to impact here; “Home” (from Bright) peaked at #39 in January 2018.

LIAM PAYNE featuring A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE – “Stack It Up” (Republic)
Album: TBA (2019-20?)
Past T40 History: After moving to #1 with “Strip That Down” last October, Payne’s follow-up songs have charted modestly at best.

MAROON 5 – “Memories” (222/Interscope)
Album: TBA (2019-20?)
Past T40 History: Already in the top 40 at the format, the group’s 27th chart single will easily be the Most Added title on Tuesday.

THE CHAINSMOKERS & ILLENIUM featuring LENNON STELLA – “Takeaway” (Disruptor/Columbia)
Album: Ascend (Illenium album, 2019)
Past T40 History: Stella has not previously impacted at this format. Illenium’s “Good Things Fall Apart” is still rising on the chart.

Next week: no songs are currently listed as impacting at the format, but that could change by the end of the week.

Which of these new songs would you like to see top the charts? Let me know!

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of November 16, 2018

Show us a chart-topper…

As the competitors begin their quest to claim the greatest consumption total of the week, only one will win the challenge. Who is vying for first place? Take a look below, because these are the notable digital and physical releases out this Friday:

VARIOUS ARTISTS – The Greatest Showman: Reimagined (Soundtrack) (iTunes)
Given how huge the original soundtrack to this film was in the last year, as well as the artists featured on this set, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be seeing this title at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week. Featuring covers by artists like Kelly Clarkson and P!nk, along with many others, the release should have a solid hold on the charts through the holiday season.

MARIAH CAREY – Caution (iTunes)
With a fan-led campaign lifting the 2001 soundtrack to Glitter to #1 on iTunes and “All I Want For Christmas Is You” making its annual spike ahead of the holidays, look for Carey’s latest set to have a solid debut in the coming days. The album features “With You”, a current top ten hit on the AC chart that’s also nearing the region at Urban AC radio.

LITTLE MIX LM5 (iTunes)
After an unexpected label shift in their native U.K., the four-woman group is ready to slay the charts with their new release. That album is led by the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Woman Like Me”, a top five smash in England that hasn’t done nearly as well here. A decent sales week is still likely for the ladies.

MUMFORD & SONS Delta (iTunes)
Now out with their fourth studio album, the British act shines a “Guiding Light” towards #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single from the project is a very strong chart-topper on the Triple A survey, while also entering the top five at Alternative radio.

MICHAEL BUBLÉ ❤️ (iTunes)
Canadian singer Bublé is learning about emojis just like the rest of us; in fact, he’s named his newest album with one of them. Its radio single, “Love You Anymore”, impacts at the AC format in January. (It’s already charting up north.)

Notable albums out this week: Alec Benjamin‘s Narrated For You (iTunes), Allan Rayman‘s Harry Hard-On (iTunes), Fly By Midnight‘s Rerunning (iTunes), Hailey Knox‘s Hardwired (iTunes), Just Loud‘s Just Loud (iTunes), Paloma Faith‘s The Architect (Zeitgeist Edition) (iTunes), Rozzi‘s Bad Together (iTunes), Trent Dabbs‘s Postiano (iTunes)
