RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 31, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. For a thriller of a Halloween hit parade, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

STAYING SPOOKY: This Halloween, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber spend a ninth frightful yet fun week at #1 on the Top 40 radio chart with “Stay”. It remains the longest-running #1 hit at the format for 2021. Will it creep into double digits for a tenth big week at the top? Stay tuned for next weekend’s update.

“Better Days”, the recent viral collaboration from NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G, enters way up at #28 this week. It marks the first top 40 hit at the format for NEIKED and Muller and the second for Polo G, who scored his first entry this past summer with “Rapstar”. Up 41-37, Jesy Nelson is in with her Nicki Minaj-assisted “Boyz”. It’s the first solo top 40 single for the former Little Mix member and the 40th for Minaj. Meanwhile, “Moth To A Flame” bows at #40 for Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd. The song is their fourth and 21st top 40 entries, respectively, and becomes the second charting title from the trio’s upcoming album Paradise Again.

In the top 50, Oliver Tree plants his roots at #48 with “Life Goes On”, another recent song to break on TikTok. He has previously charted at the Alternative radio format, but never on the Top 40 survey.
