RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 18, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. There’s lots of “Love” on this week’s log and much more, so let’s see what’s popping at the format this week:

“LOVE” WILL FIND A WAY: Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo remain at #1 on the Top 40 chart for the third week with “Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)”, which includes the song’s most recent remix featuring BTS. The song holds at the summit as record label Columbia claims the top three slots at the format, with recent chart-topper “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles staying at #2 and “Mood” by 24kGoldn and Iann Dior (via the RECORDS imprint) climbing from 5-3 on its way to the top.

Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco land at #36 with their new collaboration “Lonely”. It becomes the 31st top 40 single for Bieber, who also moves from 15-12 with the Chance The Rapper-assisted “Holy”, and the fourth such entry for Blanco. TikTok star Dixie D’Amelio rises from 41-37 with her first top 40 song at any format, “Be Happy”. Following her, “My Ex’s Best Friend” by Machine Gun Kelly and Blackbear lifts from 44-38 this week. It’s their fourth and fifth top 40 hits, respectively, and is just below the same region at the Alternative format. Finally, the aforementioned Derulo is up from 43-39 with his 22nd top 40 hit, “Take You Dancing”.

This week’s top 50 is just as busy, if not busier, than last week. The late Pop Smoke enters the pop list for the first time with “What You Know ‘Bout Love” at #43, as the new Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat collaboration “Baby, I’m Jealous” comes in at #45. It was last week’s Most Added track here. The new single by Harry Styles blasts in at #47, as he scores once again with “Golden”. Finally, this week’s #50 entry is “Lemonade”, a big streaming hit from the Internet Money label featuring Gunna, Don Toliver and Nav.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 11, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Plenty of huge releases are levitating up the chart this week, so let’s see what’s popping at the format:

“LOVE” GOES ON: Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo hold at #1 on the Top 40 radio chart with “Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)”, a title that they share with BTS due to a new remix of it. The collaboration easily earned a second week at the top and it should grab a third week before its run concludes. “Savage” also ranks in the top ten at the Hot AC (#6) and Rhythmic (#10) formats.

In the top 40, Dua Lipa‘s “Levitating” leaps from 45-27 on this week’s Top 40 chart, becoming her 11th top 40 hit at the format. Up from 42-34, Travis Scott, Young Thug and M.I.A. roll in with “Franchise”. The track becomes their ninth, fourth and second top 40 entries, respectively, a week after the collaboration debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Why Don’t We lifts from 48-38 on the chart with “Fallin'”, their fifth top 40 entry to date. Finally, format newcomer Tate McRae is up from 41-39 with “You Broke Me First”, a song that is already a top ten hit in countries like Australia, Ireland, Norway and the United Kingdom.

The top 50 is also pretty busy this week: the Machine Gun Kelly and Blackbear collaboration “My Ex’s Best Friend” grabs a spot in the region before its impact date on Tuesday, debuting at #43. The single also lands just below the top 40 at Alternative radio. Ali Gatie and Alessia Cara are new at #44 with “Welcome Back”, followed by newcomer Salem Ilese‘s “Mad At Disney” at #46. New at #47 this week, Bastille is back in the top 50 on the pop survey for the first time in a year and a half with “Survivin'”, which is also growing at two other formats: Alternative and Hot AC. Lastly, Olivia Rox‘s “Shooting Star” is in at #50.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (October 4, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. October is looking a bit savage so far, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the new #1 song at the format. Here’s what’s popping on the chart this week:

THE “BEAT” OF THE CHART: Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo are up from 2-1 on this week’s Top 40 radio chart with “Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)”. It’s the first #1 at the format for Jawsh 685 and fifth (and first since 2015) for Derulo. Notably, Mediabase now credits BTS as one of the lead acts on the collaboration because of a new remix that was released two days ago; hence, the band also earns their first #1 song here. It will easily achieve a second week at the top by next weekend.

Shawn Mendes blasts onto the chart at #30 with “Wonder”, his tenth top 40 hit at the format and first of 2020. The song enters at #27 on this week’s Hot AC chart update as well. After 2-1/2 months of movement in and out of the top 50, Curtis Waters lifts from 42-36 with the Harm Franklin-assisted “Stunnin'”. It’s the first top 40 hit at this format for the two men. Meanwhile, Joel Corry and MNEK are on the rise with “Head & Heart”, a recent #1 hit on the Dance chart that climbs from 41-37. It’s the first top 40 entry for Corry here and the second for MNEK.

There are four new releases in the top 50, the highest of which is a collaboration that rockets in at #42: Travis Scott, Young Thug and M.I.A. with “Franchise”. The tune flew into the top 20 on this week’s Rhythmic chart update. Dua Lipa‘s “Levitating” enters at #45, which was recently serviced for airplay with an updated remix that includes DaBaby. Next up, Why Don’t We falls into place at #48 with “Fallin'”, while the aforementioned Jason Derulo finishes things off at #50 with his latest single “Take You Dancing”.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (September 27, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Before you go looking at any other radio list tonight, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

ANOTHER “GO” AROUND: Lewis Capaldi holds at #1 on the Top 40 chart with “Before You Go”, its second week at the top. A new #1 is on the horizon, however, as Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo‘s song “Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)” (rising 3-2) is ready to make the leap. Capaldi’s track is now in its 37th week in the top 40, which is one week more than his previous #1 single “Someone You Loved” spent in the top 40 at this format.

There’s very little action at the bottom of the chart this week. Conan Gray has the only top 40 entry with “Heather”, up 42-40. This is his second top 40 entry at the format; in May, “Maniac” got to #37. Additionally, Madison Beer has the sole top 50 debut at #48 with “Baby”. About six months ago, “Good In Goodbye” peaked at #42.

RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (July 5, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. The temperature is hot and the songs of the summer are sizzling, so here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

ANOTHER JULY WEEKND: With a small drop in airplay vs. last week, The Weeknd‘s big hit “Blinding Lights” is launching all kinds of fireworks at the Top 40 format, as it easily earns a sixth nonconsecutive week at the top. The multi-format smash also leads the Hot AC chart for an eighth week. Will it extend its run at both formats by next Sunday? Stay tuned.

Two big collaborations debut in the top 40 on this week’s survey: the higher of the two, Trevor Daniel and Selena Gomez‘s “Past Life”, bolts onto the entire chart way up at #29. It’s the second top 40 entry for Daniel, who’s still on the rise from 4-2 with “Falling”, and the 19th solo chart hit for Gomez. Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo‘s “Savage Love” also has an impressive start at #38, marking their first and 21st top 40 singles at the format, respectively. Jawsh 685’s original instrumental tune went viral on the video platform TikTok earlier this year.

More collaborations are also making themselves known in the top 50 this week: Kygo and OneRepublic‘s “Lose Somebody”, rising through the top 30 on the Hot AC chart, wins a Top 40 debut at #44, as Regard and Raye‘s “Secrets” has a quieter start at #49.
