RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 7/23 – 7/29/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PHANGS – “I Think I’m In Love?” (iTunes) (Spotify)
This week’s Nashville lovefest begins with my favorite song from an EP that came out on Friday titled Get In My Arms, which you’ll need to get in your ears as soon as you’re done reading this. Jake Germany has a good thing going with his solo project. Great stuff!

_____

QUINN LEWIS – “Slipping” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Originally from Brisbane, now based in Nashville, this performer is enjoying his first appearance on the Rewind, though I did enjoy the title song from his EP Addicted quite a bit last fall. Lewis won’t be slipping off my radar anytime soon; his new pop bop is great.

_____

WHISSELL – “Living Now” (iTunes) (Spotify)
I’ve certainly enjoyed a lot of new music from Lauren Whistle this year, including her EP Old Souls, Young Bodies in January and a pack of three additional stand-alone singles since the late spring. She delivers on another well-crafted production and melody here.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
CLUB DRIVE – “International” (SoundCloud)
FJØRA – “Zodiac” (SoundCloud)
JAMES CHERRY – “On My Mind” (SoundCloud)
SUPER DUPER featuring LOUIS JOHNSON – “Second Chances” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 4/23 – 4/29/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

FRILLS – “My Love” (iTunes) (Spotify)
This new duo is the first of two acts from Brooklyn on the Rewind this week, and though there’s essentially nothing out there about the two men or the origin of the project, “Love” is one catchy single. I can certainly hear it playing on the Alternative airwaves soon.

_____

PETER WISE – “Sandcastle State Of Mind” (iTunes) (Spotify)
It’s been a little while since this Brooklyn performer was last featured on the Rewind, with previous singles “Sweet Solitude” (June) and “Denial” (August) making the weekly mix. Wise returns with a fusion of pop, reggae and R&B, a smooth sound that’s enjoyable.

_____

PHANGS featuring R.LUM.R – “Always Been U” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Nashville’s Jake Germany continues to serve up the jams, regardless of whether he’s performing solo or with a group. With his new single, he shares the vocals with another red hot Nashville soloist, Reggie Williams. If you need pop done right, this is a great track.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
George Taylor – “I Hear Your Song, Sweetness” (SoundCloud)
James Cherry – “Hold On” (SoundCloud)
Joe Hicks – “Talk To Me” (SoundCloud)
Lizzy Land – “Beat Goes On” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 9/25 – 10/1

Record Rewind - October 2, 2016

Our new Record Rewind is about highlighting the top new songs that you may have missed, or should discover, from many of my favorite independent acts out there. If you like what you see, let me know what you think!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

BRUNO MAJOR – “There’s Little Left” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Major really impressed me with his last single, “Wouldn’t Change A Thing”, which spread across the blogs shortly after its release in August. Don’t let the title fool you; there’s certainly more left from this budding performer and his neo soul cut. It’s refreshing.

_____

CAPE CUB – “Lifeline” (iTunes) (Spotify)
If you don’t know Chad Male’s great project by now, I’ve only written and posted my love for it about a million times. So, would it be alright if I make it a million and one? With another cut from his upcoming 6AM EP, it’s another winner for the indie rock crew.

_____

KYLE REYNOLDS – “Alive” (iTunes) (Spotify)
A little under two years ago, this California singer/songwriter pitched me his EP at the time, Simple Things. Driven by streams of “Miles On My Heart”, it’s done 775,000+ combined plays to date on Spotify. He has a catchy sync song now, and lots of potential.

_____

TIPLING ROCK – “Campus Fashion” (iTunes) (Spotify)
If you detest back-to-school season, or all those midterms coming your way, chances are that you can at least enjoy this A+ single. It comes from a Boston quartet that I’ve enjoyed for some time now, making psychedelic pop sound pretty groovy in 2016. Dig in.

_____

WHISSELL – “Pain Of Love” (iTunes) (Spotify)
It’s always excellent to get a new single from Nashville’s Lauren Whistle, who combines the 60’s soul and grit of Dusty Springfield and Nancy Sinatra with 90’s Alternative girls like Fiona Apple and Tori Amos. You’ll feel pleasure over “Pain” after listening to it.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
JAMES CHERRY – “Break Somebody” (SoundCloud)
KING DECO – “Ready My Lips” (SoundCloud)
ROMA – “Missing Out” (SoundCloud)
SILENT CROWD – “Candy” (SoundCloud)
