RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (March 11-12, 2019)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are four new titles impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

ANDY GRAMMER – “Don’t Give Up On Me” (S-Curve/Hollywood)
Album: Five Feet Apart (Soundtrack) (2019)
Past T40 History: Grammer’s past two singles both stalled at #41 on the Top 40 survey. Will this soundtrack song perform better?

BENNY BLANCO, TAINY, SELENA GOMEZ & J BALVIN – “I Can’t Get Enough” (NEON15/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: The collaboration is now in the top 50 ahead of its adds date. Blanco spent two weeks at the top with “Eastside”.

LAUV & TROYE SIVAN – “I’m So Tired…” (in2une/AWAL)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: With a combined six top 40 titles and some massive streaming numbers, the format isn’t tired of these guys yet.

MARSHMELLO featuring CHVRCHES – “Here With Me” (Joytime Collective/Glassnote-Republic)
Album: TBA (2019)
Past T40 History: Marshmello is on a hot streak, but the featured band only had their first top 50 single weeks ago with “Miracle”.

Next week: new titles from Bryce Vine, CNCO and Twenty One Pilots are among the songs flying onto the Top 40 airwaves.

Which of these new songs would you like to see top the charts? Let me know!

RECORD REWIND 2019: PGTC Picks, Week Four

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

ASHLEY TISDALE – “Love Me & Let Me Go” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

Former Disney star Tisdale last appeared on the report in November when her original track “Voices In My Head” was released to a fairly good reception. Her follow-up song, though not as successful commercially, is a nice electronic pop addition to her collection.

FRANKIE – “Lost In Translation” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance

Just ahead of her forthcoming EP STA7GES, due next month, this performer has another great pop sound on her hands. Other cuts on the set include “When I’m Ready” and “You Decided”, both of which landed on the report last fall. Translation: prepare for bops!

LAUV & TROYE SIVAN – “I’m So Tired…” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: 14th appearance (Sivan is signed to Capitol Records)

Lauv is definitely in a collaborative mood lately, as the Julia Michaels-assisted “There’s No Way” continues to gain on the pop radio chart, while his release with Sivan makes its debut this week. The short but sweet sound is catchy and the boys sound nice together.

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
BRAD O’NEILL featuring JAMES ESSEX – “Wild One”
GIRL WILDE – “Fake Louis”
PETER MANOS – “You Don’t Know Me”
SAARLOOS – “Fire Is Love”
THE BAND CAMINO – “Something To Hold On To”

UNSECRET featuring SAM TINNESZ – “Here Come The Warriors”
