NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: Releases For The Week of November 18, 2016

Gettin' heavy in Q4.

Gettin’ heavy in Q4.

Before you take a taste of that turkey, get your fill of this musical meal, including healthy portions of country, pop, rock and more great melodies. Here are a number of this week’s great album and single releases:

METALLICA — Hardwired… To Self-Destruct (iTunes)
Next week’s #1 album on the Billboard 200 should come from this legendary hard rock group. It’s their first studio album in eight years, and three songs from it, “Atlas, Rise!”, “Hardwired” and “Moth Into Flame”, are all on the Active Rock survey. Though they have a number of large opening frames historically, the first week sales from this album probably won’t approach them. Still, a #1 is a #1, and this will be their sixth if it happens.

BRUNO MARS — 24K Magic (iTunes)
Mars’s first studio album in four years is one of the more anticipated releases of the fourth quarter, and its title track is definitely moving some units. “Versace On The Floor”, which was released as an instant grat track, is also grabbing notable attention from a number of tastemaker CHR/Top 40 stations. With a debut in the top two almost certain at this point, can it get to #1? We’ll see.

MIRANDA LAMBERT — The Weight Of These Wings (iTunes)
While Country radio programmers failed to lift Lambert’s “Vice” into the top ten, her new double album is sure to please her fans into next year. The singer, who just turned 33 last week, recently started an imprint called Vanner Records. The set should have a strong top five debut on the Billboard 200, while opening at #1 on the Country chart.

DNCE — DNCE (iTunes)
The quartet’s debut album was delayed several months, but it should do some solid numbers through the holiday season. Current single “Body Moves” has seen some slow progress in sales and airplay. It’ll likely enter somewhere in the lower half of the top ten.

Christmas albums out this week: TBA

More albums out this week: Disturbed‘s Live At Red Rocks (iTunes), E-40‘s The D-Boy Diary (iTunes), Faith Hill‘s Deep Tracks (iTunes), High Valley‘s Dear Life (iTunes), Highly Suspect‘s The Boy Who Died Wolf (iTunes), Justice‘s Woman (iTunes), Little Mix‘s Glory Days (iTunes), Sixx:A.M.‘s Prayers For The Blessed (iTunes), Moana (Soundtrack) (iTunes), The Edge Of Seventeen (iTunes)
