RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 11/12 – 11/18/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

AARON TAOS featuring SHANE STOKES – “Alone” (Spotify)
I’ve been a fan of Taos’s tracks for just over two years now, with his tunes being featured on the Rewind and PGTC Spotify playlists. This year alone, my favorite releases from him include “Not Over Yet” and “Off My Mind”. His diverse musical palette shines again.

_____

ALY & AJ – “Promises” (Spotify)
With the release of their EP Ten Years this past Friday, the duo of sisters Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka continue to impress the pop world with their comeback (which will hopefully include a full-length set next year!) This song is my favorite, a super retro bop.

_____

CHELSEA LANKES – “Matches” (Spotify)
You know that I support all my Nashville kings and queens, and that includes Lankes, though it’s been a moment since her last new music dropped. Back in the spring of 2016, I really enjoyed her self-titled EP. Her latest edgy pop winner is quite an addictive song!

_____

LAUV – “Paris In The Rain” (Spotify)
Pop keeps pouring down on us this week with the latest tune from Ari Leff’s ongoing playlist project titled I met you when I was 18. This one isn’t as instant as some of his past songs, a few of which have now been on the radio, but there’s a nice 70’s R&B influence.

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
AIRPLANE MAN – “New Supplier” (SoundCloud)
BROADHURST – “Open Wide” (SoundCloud)
GHOST MACHINES – “We Bring The Fire” (SoundCloud)
JAMES DROLL – “Jacket Weather” (SoundCloud)
THE BEACH – “U.R. Beautiful” (SoundCloud)
VOKES – “Easy To Hate” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 6/4 – 6/10/17

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

ANDREW BELLE – “Down” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Seems like we’ve had a lot of radio singles with the word “down” in their titles recently, so I guess it’s only right to spotlight a digital song that gets “down” with what’s headed up. Of Belle’s set of stand-alone singles during the last year, this is my favorite one so far.

_____

KYLE REYNOLDS – “Friday Saturday Sunday” (iTunes) (Spotify)
So far this year, Nashville singer/songwriter Reynolds has appeared as the featured artist on two solid songs, but it’s his first main-credited single for 2017 that serves future pop perfection for the weekend (as if the title wasn’t a dead giveaway.) It’s pretty catchy!

_____

SMALLPOOLS – “Million Bucks” (iTunes) (Spotify)
After parting ways with RCA, this Los Angeles trio is back to rock the charts with their forthcoming independent EP, The Science Of Letting Go. Though this doesn’t approach “Over & Over” or “Karaoke” for me yet, it fits nicely with their usual aesthetic and sound.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
BROADHURST – “Status Quo” (SoundCloud)
Mikey Wax – “Never Letting You Go” (SoundCloud)
Rooney – “Second Chances” (SoundCloud)
Wanderer – “Call Me Crazy (Acoustic)” (SoundCloud)

RECORD REWIND: PGTC Picks, 11/13 – 11/19

Record Rewind - November 20, 2016

Our new Record Rewind is about highlighting the top new songs that you may have missed, or should discover, from many of my favorite independent acts out there. If you like what you see, let me know what you think!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

BROADHURST – “Bones” (iTunes) (Spotify)
From Sneaky Sound System to sound systems all over the globe, Nick Broadhurst has just about four million Spotify streams for a super single of his, “Little Lover”, and all of the remixes that accompanied it. His latest song, a strong pop ballad, will intrigue you.

_____

COURTSHIP. – “Love For Everyone” (iTunes) (Spotify)
This is the first time on the Rewind for the duo of Eli Hirsch and Micah Gordon, and I think it’s a safe bet that this track will find its way into a commercial real soon. It’s just too catchy to be ignored, and the timely message makes it an even more important single.

_____

KYKO – “Nature” (iTunes) (Spotify)
The last time London’s Scott Verrill was on the Rewind was in September; that’s when his track “Horizon” debuted. That single is a few days away from reaching 600,000 streams on Spotify. Pretty impressive! His tropical pop meets indie rock sound is a winner.

_____

PATTERNIST – “Give It Up” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Musician Gabe Mouer has been making sweet sounds under this name for a couple of years now, so I guess I’m overdue for putting one of his songs on the Rewind. Luckily, this catchy indie pop bop is definitely on repeat for me. Check out his new EP next month.

_____

PRETTY SISTER – “Thirsty” (iTunes) (Spotify)
Zak Waters continues to impress with this fun and funky number that’ll leave you parched for more pop perfection. Of course, I’ve been following the project for over a year now, and with excellent tracks like “Come To LA” and “West Coast”, he’s doing real well.

_____

THØSS – “Submarine” (iTunes) (Spotify)
It’s great to have this performer return with a quality single. In June, the title track from his Benchwarmer EP was included on the Rewind, but the whole set is a pretty solid listen. In an ocean full of indie rock acts, this submarine is certainly making some waves.

_____

For more great new music, these tunes are worth a listen…
ALLMAN BROWN featuring LIZ LAWRENCE – “Palms” (SoundCloud)
ANDIE CASE – “So Low” (SoundCloud)
BRAYTON BOWMAN – “Puff Puff Pass” (SoundCloud)
GRIFF’S ROOM BAND – “Part Of Me” (SoundCloud)
LIZZY LAND – “Sweet Melodies” (SoundCloud)
NATIVES – “Passion” (SoundCloud)
RKCB – “Enough” (SoundCloud)
VALLEY – “Drive” (SoundCloud)

Everybody had to get their new singles delivered and uploaded before Thanksgiving… well, at least there’s plenty to listen to now!
