RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Twenty Four

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
MOKITA – “Bad” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Sixth appearance

Nashville’s John-Luke Carter continues his run of great independent releases with another pop banger. This particular single gets a little help from another frequent face on the Rewind, Los Angeles-based CAPPA, and songwriter Thomas Jones. It’s a summer jam.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
OLI FOX – “Player 2” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

During his short time with Island Records, the performer’s music was featured several times on our Friday Faves playlist, including cuts like “The Worrying” in November 2018 and “Young” in March 2019. His latest track, a rhythmic pop bop, wins the final round!

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
BEN KESSLER – “No Plans”
CODY FRY – “Thinking About You”
LOLO – “Dead Inside”

RECORD REWIND 2020: PGTC Picks, Week Eighteen

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
BRUCE WEIGNER – “Say To You” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fifth appearance

This Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter has been fairly busy in the past year or so, creating songs for both himself and artists like musician and digital creator Scotty Sire and recent Songland contestant and songwriter CORii. “Say” is another quality release.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
DYLAN – “Good Enough” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

It was good enough for some Spotify editorial love and it’s also good enough for the weekly Rewind report: 20-year-old Dylan has a winner with the newest cut from her forthcoming EP titled Red, out May 29. I look forward to hearing the last two songs on the set.

PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
JAMIE SCOTT – “Friendly Fire” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

Scott’s awesome music and fantastic songwriting have been a part of my life since 2011, especially the singles off Grafitti6’s Colours album and his 2014 solo outing My Hurricane, along with his various co-writes for other artists. This track is a very pleasant listen.
