RADIO REPORT: What’s Popping At Top 40 Radio This Week (September 25-26, 2017)

It’s time once again to analyze the airwaves and find out if your favorite new releases will be lighting up your local station’s playlist this week. Which tunes will climb to the top and which ones will hit a stop? Here are five singles impacting this week at the Top 40 format:

ANDREAS MOSS – “Stuck In My Feelings” (Curb)
Album: TBA
Past T40 History: Swedish-born, now Nashville-based Moss is a newcomer to the format. Curb last made the top 50 here in 2009.

CHARLY BLACK & LUIS FONSI – “Party Animal” (Casablanca/Republic)
Album: TBA
Past T40 History: Black’s original “Gyal You A Party Animal” impacted at the format in May of last year, getting very little airplay.

ED SHEERAN – “Perfect” (Atlantic)
Album: ÷ (2017)
Past T40 History: Given the ten-week #1 smash “Shape Of You”, and the #7 hit “Castle On The Hill”, this should have a lovely run.

KHALID – “Young Dumb & Broke” (Right Hand Music/RCA)
Album: American Teen (2017)
Past T40 History: “Location” remains in the top 30, though it’s been pulled, while “Silence” (with Marshmello) has a few adds too.

POST MALONE featuring 21 SAVAGE – “Rockstar” (Republic)
Album: Beerbongs & Bentleys (2017?)
Past T40 History: Malone’s “Congratulations” peaked at #20 in August. “Rockstar” is dominating at the major streaming services.

Next week: Calvin Harris, DJ Snake and Linkin Park are three of the names we’ll be looking out for on next week’s report. Of the three tracks, two are collaborations: Harris’s “Faking It” features Kehlani and Lil Yachty, and DJ Snake’s “A Different Way” features Lauv.

Which of these new songs would you like to see top the charts? Let me know!
