_____

Rose may have been gone for a minute, but he’s back! With his first single on the Rewind since August, the moody tune is a winner.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
WRABEL – “Hurts Like Hell” (Spotify)

After a performance on Today and a great sales reaction, Wrabel’s personal new track is poised to become his biggest song in years.

RECORD REWIND 2019: PGTC Picks, Week Forty Seven

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…
_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
JORDAN FISHER – “Be Okay” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

Our recap for this week involves two acts that were previously signed in the major label system, but have since departed it. The very talented actor and singer Fisher had two minor pop radio hits in 2016 with Hollywood Records. His latest single is a good slow jam.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
MKTO – “Consider Me Yours” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

After scoring their biggest hit with “Classic”, which reached #8 on the pop radio chart in July 2014, this male duo has gone between Columbia Records and BMG for other charting singles at the format. Consider this one as poised to do more with the right support.

_____

BRUNO MAJOR – “Tapestry”
DES ROCS – “Give Me The Night”
DYLAN DUNLAP – “If That’s Alright”

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
TONES AND I – “Never Seen The Rain” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

This Australian performer is blowing up in her home country with one Gold and one Platinum single to date, as her sound begins to spread through Europe via increasing airplay and larger playlisting. With an EP due in late August, the hits should keep on coming!

RECORD REWIND 2019: PGTC Picks, Week Twelve

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
BRUNS – “Never Go Back” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

If you remember the Colorado quintet Churchill, best known for their top five Triple A radio tune “Change”, then you might like the new single from former member Tim Bruns and his duo. One of their poppier efforts to date, the track is a pretty catchy spring jam.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
HEARTS & COLORS – “Lion” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

Previously signed to Casablanca Records in the U.S. and now headed down the independent route, the new cut by this Swedish duo roars into the zoo that we know as Rewind. Breezing through a lighter tropical pop single, this act’s catalog remains just as colorful.

PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
THE NGHBRS – “Almost There” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

We’re sure the nghbrhd won’t mind if you bump the current single from Griffin Oskar and Ryan Dominic, who previously appeared on the Rewind with a cut called “All Or Nothing” last June. With a catchy and bright pop sound, it’s like I loved them all over again!

PICK OF THE WEEK: FOUR
WRABEL – “I Want You” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

Over the last few years, this talented singer/songwriter has been signed with the Island Def Jam Music Group and Epic Records. At the latter, he managed to score a #1 song on my personal chart, 2016’s “11 Blocks”. This remixed version of an old cut is a good one!

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
ADAM MELCHOR – “Means To A Mend”
KEVIN GARRETT – “Smoke”
MOONTOWER – “Lay With Me”
STEFAN ALEXANDER – “Don’t Speak”

RECORD REWIND 2019: PGTC Picks, Week Ten

Sunday afternoon means it’s time for the Record Rewind, highlighting the top new tracks that you might’ve missed during the work week, all from my favorite small label and independent acts out there. If it’s on the site, it’s something that you need to check out!

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
BRUCE WIEGNER – “IDK” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: First appearance

Wiegner makes the Rewind for the first time, though he first came onto my radar a few months back with a solid track titled “Better Off This Way” (as The Weekend Riot) and co-writes for acts like Annalia and Gatsby. IDK what you think, but I’m enjoying this cut.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
KYAN PALMER & NICOPOP. featuring YURI JONESS – “Antisocial Socialites” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance, second appearance, first appearance

Of the three artists combining their talents for this single, Palmer returns to the Rewind with his first track since “Pretend That You Love Me” from last September, one of the great cuts from on his set Burn Mona Lisa. This collaboration is a groovy throwback jam.

PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
LO LO – “Sweater Collection” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

The Canadian soloist that gave us the great pop bop “Convenient” last year, as well as the minor radio hit “Yours” up north, gets her second appearance on the Rewind with a fashionable single that’s just the right fit. The sound is familiar, but it’s irresistibly catchy!

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
ADAM MELCHOR – “Plan On You”
DENNY WHITE – “Like It Was”
GREYSON CHANCE – “Timekeeper”

RECORD REWIND 2019: PGTC Picks, Week Six

Across the PGTC SoundCloud page and my playlists on Spotify, these stuck out as my favorite independent songs of the week…

_____

PICK OF THE WEEK: ONE
BLAKE ROSE – “Lost” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Second appearance

Australian performer Rose appears to be blooming like a rose with his second single to date, which received notable support at both Apple Music and Spotify on Friday and ranked among the top 60 pop titles on iTunes. His awesome song is poised to do even more.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TWO
KIM PETRAS – “If U Think About Me…” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Fourth appearance

Three is better than one, and Petras knows it well, having just released another three songs on Thursday of last week. While the two others are collaborations, this solo cut ranks as my favorite of the tracks by far. No need to think about it: this pop bop is a nice one.

PICK OF THE WEEK: THREE
R3HAB x ICONA POP – “This Is How We Party” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Third appearance (Icona Pop records for Big Beat Records, distributed by Atlantic Records)

Here’s a great dance release with a nostalgic twist: the song interpolates another track of the same name by S.O.A.P., a Danish duo whose European hit peaked at #21 on the CHR/Pop chart in May 1998. This update keeps it fresh and should be a solid club record.

_____

For more great new music, these songs are worth a listen…
ADAM MELCHOR – “Three Hours Ahead”
ADAM&STEVE featuring MATY NOYES – “Wherever You Are”
CHRIS JOBE – “Cry”
COOPER & GATLIN – “Like You”
GRANT LANDIS – “Home To Momma”
GREYSON CHANCE – “Shut Up”
SOPHIA ANGELES – “Anybody Else”
SVRCINA – “Insecure”

Notes: Sometimes songs hit you in the middle of a party… that’s the atmosphere of Greyson’s new one, a quality introspective track.

_____

SVRCINA – “Dragonflies” (Spotify)
Previously on the Rewind: Seventh appearance
Notes: A semi-regular here on the weekly Rewind, the latest single by this performer is a tiny animal of a title with a big pop punch.
