RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (September 26, 2021)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. For the justified jumps and more, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

LET’S “STAY” TOGETHER: Their enduring radio smash is titled “Stay” and it seems like The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber are doing it, as they and their collaboration earn a fourth week at #1 on the Top 40 chart. The cut is down about 300 spins, but it remains above 19,000 total again this week and nearly 1,900 ahead of its nearest competitor.

Rising from 50-31 to score their 14th top 40 hit at the format, the Jonas Brothers are off to a very fast start with “Who’s In Your Head”. Lil Nas X is also seeing some major support for “That’s What I Want”, which debuts at #33 this week. It’s his sixth top 40 song to date and third from his recent album Montero, which just debuted at #2 on the latest Billboard 200 update.

Two solo women have this week’s entries in the top 50: Kacey Musgraves lands at #45 with “Justified”, while Nessa Barrett starts at #46 with “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead”. Musgraves is looking for her first top 40 entry at the format, while Barrett is going for her second.
