Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Gather your crew for what’s popping at the format this week:
REMEMBER THE “NAME”: Earning a second week at #1 on the Top 40 chart, Lil Nas X‘s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” lands just 34 spins ahead of the song at #2: “Good 4 U”, a future #1 at the format for Olivia Rodrigo. Meanwhile, “Montero” advances from 3-1 on the Rhythmic chart.
Post Malone leads a pack of five debuts in the top 40, as “Motley Crew” advances from 43-29 this week. It’s his 15th top 40 song to date. Up from 46-35, Billie Eilish picks up her eighth top 40 single with “NDA”. At three letters in length, it becomes one of the shortest titles to land on the chart, though we’ve had even shorter ones historically, including “Go”, “I”, “If” and “No”. Maroon 5 secures their 30th top 40 entry at the format with another relatively short title, “Lost”, lifting from 45-37. Kane Brown and Blackbear are next at #38 with “Memory”, which debuts at that position. It’s their third and eighth top 40 hits, respectively, though Brown has earned quite a few more on the Country chart. A fifth and final title moves from 41-40 to just sneak into the region, as TikTok star Nic D scores his first top 40 hit with “Fine Apple”. The song now joins a handful of other titles containing apples or pineapples to enter the chart, including “Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie”, “Little Green Apples”, “One Bad Apple” and “Pineapple Princess”.
Currently in the top 20 on both the Rhythmic and Urban charts, “Thot Sh*t” twerks onto the pop radio list for Megan Thee Stallion at #49. One spot lower, we have another significant hit from the two radio lists: “Late At Night”, debuting at #50 for Roddy Ricch.
