RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (September 27, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Before you go looking at any other radio list tonight, here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

ANOTHER “GO” AROUND: Lewis Capaldi holds at #1 on the Top 40 chart with “Before You Go”, its second week at the top. A new #1 is on the horizon, however, as Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo‘s song “Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)” (rising 3-2) is ready to make the leap. Capaldi’s track is now in its 37th week in the top 40, which is one week more than his previous #1 single “Someone You Loved” spent in the top 40 at this format.

There’s very little action at the bottom of the chart this week. Conan Gray has the only top 40 entry with “Heather”, up 42-40. This is his second top 40 entry at the format; in May, “Maniac” got to #37. Additionally, Madison Beer has the sole top 50 debut at #48 with “Baby”. About six months ago, “Good In Goodbye” peaked at #42.
