RADIO ACTIVE — A Weekly Chart CHRonicle (June 21, 2020)

Welcome to Radio Active, a Sunday evening report from POP! Goes The Charts that gets to the chart of the matter: all the highlights from the CHR/Top 40 chart, as published by Mediabase 24/7 and Mediabase Research. Writing about music and radio charts at the moment is a bit strange, but for petition and donation resources in the fight against racial inequality in our country, please go to this website and do what you can. Here’s what’s popping at the format this week:

INTENTIONAL CHANGES: Scoring his eighth #1 hit on the Top 40 chart, Justin Bieber lands at the top spot with the Quavo-assisted “Intentions”, up from 3-1. The track comes from his most recent album Changes, a former #1 set on the Billboard 200 chart that also gave us a very quick #11 entry from January in “Yummy”. The collaboration also reaches the top five (up 6-5) at the Hot AC format this week.

After a crazy week last time around, there’s much smaller action to talk about in the lower rungs of the chart. Moving into the top 40 this week, Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey‘s “The Other Girl” leaps from 42-39. The collaboration becomes their second and 15th top 40 hits, respectively. Sneaking into the top 50 ahead of its impact date later this month, “Go Crazy” from Chris Brown and Young Thug launches at #50. The song currently sits in the top ten on both the Rhythmic and Urban charts.
