ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (January 21, 2020)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the Jonas Brothers gotta ‘nother hit, but who else in the mix? Let’s add ’em up:

“MAN” OF THE HOUR: With 164 adds on impact, “What A Man Gotta Do” by the Jonas Brothers dominated the Top 40 report, easily securing the top spot. On the Hot AC report, it picked up another 55 adds, where it also started in first place. With a nice top 30 debut on both charts by last Sunday’s published update, the song won’t waste any time flying up through the coming weeks. It’s expected to lead a forthcoming studio album by the siblings, which is due sometime later this year.

Labelmate Chelsea Cutler also managed a solid first week with “Sad Tonight”, landing in third place with 39 stations. Her album How To Be Human was released last Friday. It’s her first single to officially impact at the Top 40 format, though she did score a bit of Triple A airplay last year for the Jeremy Zucker collaboration “You Were Good To Me”, which failed to chart.

Charting songs from Alicia Keys, Halsey and The Weeknd are among those returning to the top ten on this week’s report.

Next week, Lizzo‘s “Cuz I Love You” is likely to see a lot of love at the Top 40 format. Will Noah Cyrus‘s “July” share it?
