ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (September 17, 2019)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: it’s all about the ladies, as the new song by Halsey goes up against a huge soundtrack cut from Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey. Alright, angels, let’s add ’em up:

A GRAVE SITUATION: After missing the top ten earlier this year with “Nightmare” and the BTS collaboration “Boy With Luv”, Halsey could be headed back into the region with her new single “Graveyard”, taken from her upcoming album Manic. Following a soft debut at #48 on last Sunday’s published update, the song roars in at the top of the adds report with 133 stations on impact. It’s likely to see a larger move into the top 40 by the weekend.

Of course, this means that the Grande, Cyrus and Del Rey collaboration “Don’t Call Me Angel” has to settle for a second place start, but with a substantial 97 stations on impact, it certainly has nothing to complain about. The single is featured on the soundtrack to the new Charlie’s Angels film; the album is released on November 1, while the movie opens two weeks later. “Don’t” should also fly into the top 40 by the next published update.

Charting releases by Camila Cabello, Lizzo and Normani are among those prominent songs making up the rest of the top ten.

Liam Payne and The Chainsmokers are among the artists impacting with new releases that are looking at a top five finish next Tuesday. Who will takeaway the top prize from the other? Will someone else surprise? Stay tuned.
