Chart Notes:

  • The English quartet Bastille earns their fifth #1 song on my chart with “Joy”, advancing from 3-1. In November, they earned their previous #1 hit with the Marshmello collaboration “Happier”, which spent four weeks at the summit. It’s featured on the album Doom Days, which came out last month. There’s a fair amount of debut action this week, with Noah Kahan‘s “Cynic” coming in the highest at #36. The tune marks his fifth top 40 entry to date; his most recent, a #5 song called “Mess”, falls a few spots to #25 on the current list. Landing at #37, we have the first collaboration together for Alexander Cardinale and Christina Perri. “Simple Things” is just below the top 50 at Hot AC radio and gaining well. Finally, at #39, a song that’s headed to Alternative radio in a few weeks: “Hotel Walls”, the second top 40 entry for Smith & Thell. Their first chart hit, “Forgive Me Friend”, spent three weeks at #6 this past spring. It remains in the top ten on the Triple A radio chart.
