Chart Notes:

  • Earning a record-breaking ninth #1 single on my personal chart, Taylor Swift‘s “ME!” (featuring Brendon Urie) rises from 2-1 this week. It’s the first track to be released from her forthcoming album, due sometime later this year. Urie also ranks at #1 for the second week in a row: “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” by his band Panic! At The Disco, last week’s chart-topper, drops to #3. Further down, Swift’s one-time rival Katy Perry earns this week’s Highest Debut at #28 with “Never Really Over”, which also scores a splashy top 30 debut on the Hot AC and Top 40 charts. Its entry marks Perry’s first song to appear in my top 40 this year, though her collaborations with Daddy Yankee and Zedd received solid airplay at several radio formats in the last few months. Also checking in with a notable debut at #32, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” brings the legendary Elton John back to the top 40 with newcomer Taron Egerton, who portrays John in the new movie Rocketman. In the process, John, who is now 72, becomes one of the oldest performers to enter my list: he’s about six months younger than Rod Stewart was when his updated version of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” (with DNCE) debuted in September 2017. Finally, at #40, P!nk and Chris Stapleton make the top 40 with a hit off the former’s album Hurts 2B Human called “Love Me Anyway”. The song is receiving airplay from several stations on the Country radio panel.
