ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (April 30, 2019)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: some collaboration called “ME!” manages to put up, you know, a few adds here and there. Nothing historic or anything… alright, maybe it’s a tad bigger than that. Let’s add ’em up:

GET “ME” TO THE TOP: A huge congratulations to Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie, who easily claim the top spot on the log with “ME!”, picking up an add at every station (184 of them) on the current Top 40 panel. It marks the fourth time in the history of the plays-per-week era that this event has occurred at the format, three of which have come in the last three years. Swift previously pulled off the feat in 2017 with “Look What You Made Me Do”, which started at 187 stations at the time. Needless to say, the song’s quick start definitely makes it a contender for the Song Of The Summer, with a likely run at #1 coming in the not-so-distant future.

Beyond that lofty achievement for Swift and Urie, a single by Martin Garrix with Macklemore and Patrick Stump has a good start in the runner-up position with a total of 48 stations on impact. “Summer Days” will be absolutely perfect for the season that’ll be here before you know it. Juice WRLD is also in the mix with a cut that’s already receiving a solid amount of airplay at both the Rhythmic and Urban radio formats, “Hear Me Calling”. It earns 26 stations in its first full week, enough to land in fifth place.

Repeated (and very active) titles from acts like Billie Eilish, Dan + Shay, Khalid and Lizzo make up the rest of the top ten.

Next week, we’ll be coloring the adds report with some BLACKPINK. Stay tuned to see how “Kill This Love” performs.
