ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (April 23, 2019)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Daddy Yankee, Katy Perry and Snow freeze out the competition here, but there are plenty of newcomers skiing their way through an icy top ten. Put on some mittens and let’s add ’em up:

“CON” HAS ITS PROS: The rapper named Snow hasn’t appeared in the top 40 at the format in almost 26 years, but the forecast sure is calling for a blizzard at pop radio this summer. His 1993 classic “Informer” is sampled on “Con Calma”, a collaboration with Daddy Yankee and Katy Perry, which claims the Most Added title at Top 40 radio this week, starting with 87 stations on impact. At Rhythmic radio, it adds another 14 stations to its total. Both Yankee and Perry have history at #1 on the Top 40 list, with Perry’s #1 streak being significantly larger, though Snow’s signature hit spent a week at #2, narrowly missing the top spot. We’ll see if this cut can inform a wider audience in the annual fight for the Song of the Summer. It’ll be a tough one once again.

Also entering the game this week, SZA, The Weeknd and Travis Scott have a powerful start for “Power Is Power”, a track taken off the compilation For The Throne: Music Inspired By The HBO Series Game of Thrones. The collaboration earns 37 stations and a second place finish, as well as 38 stations and the Most Added title on the Rhythmic radio log. Additionally, Dan + Shay score a solid fourth place entry with “Speechless”, their latest Country radio crossover, which picks up 29 new stations this week.

Next week, it’s all about a singer named Taylor Swift. Heard of her? We think she’s an emerging artist to watch…
