ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (February 12, 2019)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Ariana Grande keeps it “Up” at the format with the latest radio song off her most recent album, but she’s not the only artist with big stats this week. Let’s add ’em up:

HER BIG “BREAK”: It’s a mouthful to say, but it’s definitely a winner with the pop panel this week. Grande’s cut “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” from the chart-topping thank u, next album earns the Most Added title on this Tuesday’s report, ending the day with 85 stations on impact. The single reached the top 50 on last Sunday’s report and should be closing in on the top 30 by Sunday’s final tally. Of course, this comes as “7 rings” continues its ascent towards the top, while the title track from the album has its descent after a week at the top earlier this year. We don’t think the format will be breaking up with her anytime soon…

Meanwhile, the collaboration from The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds Of Summer, “Who Do You Love”, comes in with a very strong second place finish and 75 stations during its first week. It also reached the top 50 for last Sunday’s published chart and will enjoy a great climb into the top 40 by this coming weekend. The EDM duo remains in the top ten here with the Kelsea Ballerini-assisted “This Feeling”, while the pop/rock quartet earned their first #1 last September with “Youngblood”.

Calling on Top 40 stations next Tuesday will be Mabel‘s “Don’t Call Me Up”, which is already a big record in England and Ireland.
