ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (August 7, 2018)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: new singles from Anne-Marie, Bazzi and Logic all scored well with the panel, but did any of them take the crown from DJ Khaled‘s winning collaboration from last week? Let’s add ’em up:

WHOSE SIDE IS IT ANYWAY?: It was a close call for most of the afternoon, but in the end, this blast from the past just wasn’t enough to lead the latest Top 40 report. “2002” by Anne-Marie checks into the runner-up spot with 44 stations on impact, as “Side Effects” by The Chainsmokers featuring Emily Warren rises a notch from last week with 47 stations during this session. Look for “2002” to enter the top 50 on the published update this weekend; “Side Effects” roared into the top 40 at #31 last Sunday.

Meanwhile, new collaborations from Logic featuring Ryan Tedder and Bazzi featuring Camila Cabello also entered the top five this week, the former (“One Day”) in third place with 35 stations and the latter (“Beautiful”) in fifth place with 37 stations. The two singles should also enter the top 50 this weekend, with the latter song following Bazzi’s “Mine”, which hit #1 at the format a month ago.

Next week, Tyga‘s current smash at the Rhythmic and Urban radio formats, the Offset-assisted “Taste”, re-impacts at the format. It initially went for adds three weeks ago and is nearing the top 40 on the pop chart.
