ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (May 1, 2018)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: the Payne is real and the Bryce is right, with several impacting songs on their way up the charts (and the weekly report.) Who earns first place? Let’s add ’em up:

THIS LOOKS FAMILIAR: Taking the top position on this Tuesday’s report are two familiar faces: Liam Payne and J Balvin, speaking the hit language with their bilingual song, “Familiar”. It sports 44 stations during its impact week, and should total a nice weekly sum in the coming weeks. Last Sunday, the tune slipped into the top 50 at #50, and it’s sure to be up again this weekend. If Payne doesn’t release his first solo album this year, there will be a lot of unhappy fans, including myself! Nevertheless, this single’s likely to appear on it, whenever that is. Will Payne grab his second solo #1 at the format? We’ll have to wait and see. If you stanned for One Direction, you’re also probably enjoying the third place finish for ZAYN‘s “Let Me” this week, as it continues to build on the weekly updates. It’s new at 25 stations during the current session.

Two other impacting singles cut through the jungle of jams to land in the top ten: Bryce Vine‘s “Drew Barrymore”, which takes in 24 stations, landing a fourth place finish, and Tom Walker‘s “Leave A Light On”, which burns with 18 stations, locked in a tie for seventh place. Both artists are newcomers to the format, though Walker first made the Hot AC chart in 2017 with the mid-charting “Just You And I”. Look for both songs to approach the top 50 soon. By the way, Walker’s new single is not a hot Belinda Carlisle cover, though her “Leave A Light On” hit #11 at the format in November 1989.
