ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (April 3, 2018)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: pop balladeer Sam Smith takes the logical route toward the Most Added title with “Pray”, but will he be shut out by labelmate Halsey or Shawn Mendes? Let’s add ’em up:

STALKING OUR “PRAY”: “Goodbyes” are not enough for Sam Smith, as his follow-up to “Too Good At Goodbyes” says a nice “hello” to Top 40 format. “Pray”, which is impacting with a new version featuring Logic, starts at 35 stations this week, which falls short of the 41 stations for “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes, this week’s Most Added release for the second consecutive week. In the next few days, “Pray”, utilizing airplay of its original version and updated remix, should approach the top 50 at the format (and pull in some additional stations along the way.)

Meanwhile, watch out for the Charlie Puth and Kehlani collaboration called “Done For Me”, which has been picking up all sorts of pre-impact action in the last few weeks. This week, it takes in another 14 stations, as it hits a three-way tie for sixth place. This is the third radio single from Puth’s forthcoming album Voicenotes, due May 11. Currently, “Me” is the only tune scheduled to impact here next Tuesday, though that could change soon.
