Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: A virtually unknown artist named Taylor Swift (who?) delicately tiptoes onto the Top 40 airwaves, while newcomers In Real Life sink some ink into the top ten. Let’s add ’em up:
SAME SWIFT, DIFFERENT DAY: In the middle of another week of nice adds for acts like 5 Seconds Of Summer, Meghan Trainor and Post Malone, there’s one name who swiftly captures the attention of the Top 40 radio panel. No surprise here; that would be Big Machine/Republic superstar Taylor Swift and her latest single called “Delicate”. It lands 35 stations in its first week this Tuesday, putting it in second place (ten stations behind Trainor’s “No Excuses”.) This is Swift’s fifth release to make the top 50 from her current album reputation, which includes four radio singles and an instant grat (“Gorgeous”) that had a handful of weeks on in October and November. A clip for “Delicate” premiered on an award show on Sunday, dancing its way into the #1 position on YouTube’s Trending video chart following its debut.
Formed on ABC’s Boy Band last summer, Hollywood’s In Real Life, who saw some limited airplay at the format last year with the song “Eyes Closed”, officially impacts for the first time at the format with their current single, “Tattoo (How ‘Bout You)”. The band, composed of five members between the ages of 16 and 20, ties for third place with two other songs, reaching 27 stations on impact. You’ll also find newcomer LIVVIA with a nice first week for “Catch A Body”, featuring Quavo from Migos, in ninth place with 20 stations. The performer was previously credited as Olivia Somerlyn, and though she did receive some limited airplay here with a handful of songs several years ago, especially on satellite radio, she never previously entered the top 50.
