Chart Notes:

  • Big congrats to Irish trio The Script, who score their seventh #1 hit on my chart with “Arms Open”, up from 3-1. This entry follows “Rain”, which stalled at #2 for four weeks last year. (Both singles are from the album Freedom Child, which debuted at #1 on the charts in Ireland, Scotland and the U.K. in September.) “Arms” is the act’s 12th top ten song in a row, a massive run that began in 2009 with “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, which would eventually spend eight weeks at #1 that spring.
  • Two chart-topping artists have the two debuts on this week’s chart, starting with a high one from Troye Sivan and “My My My!”, which flies in at #30. Two years ago, Sivan’s “Youth” spent three weeks at #1, which was followed by a #6 follow-up in “Wild”, featuring Alessia Cara. Meanwhile, entering at #38, the follow-up to recent two-week chart-topper “New Rules” is ready to slay the competition. Dua Lipa‘s latest single is titled “IDGAF”, but you should GAF about her endless pop bops.
