ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (October 24, 2017)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: at least nine singles ended up officially impacting this week… yes, nine, so adds were pretty split all around. That being said, new titles from Liam Payne and NF were among the big winners of that battle. Check them all out below:

“DOWN” FOR THE CROWN: Format newcomer NF, already popular in the Christian world, takes the Most Added title on this week’s report with “Let You Down”, scoring 38 new stations on impact. This achievement comes after plenty of early commitments came in for the song over the last month (its impact date was even moved up a week) and its debut in the top 50 over the weekend. “Down” is searching to become the first crossover release by a Christian performer to reach the top 40 on Top 40 radio since Britt Nicole‘s “Gold”, which peaked at #29 in February 2013. Based on current gains, it could do it as early as this weekend. (I guess he was looking to a higher power for some help!)

Liam Payne‘s “Bedroom Floor” (#3, 26 new stations) also has a significant group of adds, as the former One Direction singer is trying for his second solo #1 on the pop chart, following the Quavo-assisted “Strip That Down”, which held there for a single week about two weeks ago. A couple of interesting collaborations also join the party in the top ten this week, with “Meant To Be” (#5, 22 new stations) by pop singer Bebe Rexha and country duo Florida Georgia Line pacing just ahead of “Feels Great” (#6, 20 new stations) from EDM trio Cheat Codes and rapper Fetty Wap. Look for both of those future hits, along with Payne’s solo track, to chart in the coming weeks.
