ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (August 1, 2017)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Portugal. The Man feels its way up the leaderboard on a slow week, but it’s certainly doing well, along with the current hits from Louis Tomlinson, Selena Gomez and more. A new month means that new reports are on the way, and here’s the latest one:

MAN ABOUT TOWN: It’s been six big weeks at #1 on the Alternative chart for Portugal. The Man‘s “Feel It Still”, and with its Hot AC and Top 40 airplay growing quickly, it looks like it’ll be a crossover smash through the fall. This Tuesday, it feels super cool for these five men, as they pull in 18 new stations on impact, good for the sixth Most Added spot. Their most recent album debuted in the top 40 on the Billboard 200, and it’s called Woodstock. Though the quintet’s now had five top 40 singles to date at their core format since 2011, this is the first to chart outside of the rock world and internationally. (Yes, it’s in the top 100 songs on Spotify in Portugal. It might need a few more men, and women, to play it.)

THE BOY IS YOURS: Fall Out Boy‘s “Champion” (#8) and Rita Ora‘s “Your Song” (#9) are making their first appearances on the weekly column, having appeared just outside the top ten here in recent weeks. The latter entry debuted at #45 this past Sunday on the published chart, while the former entry missed the top 50 by just three spins. (Don’t worry, it’s already moving up.) Ora last appeared in the top 40 in November 2014, when she was the featured artist on a #1 hit for Iggy Azalea, “Black Widow”. As for the band, they’ve been more consistent on the U.S. charts, having last touched the format in February 2016 with “Irresistible”. That hit featured Demi Lovato, and it peaked at #21.
