ADD LIB — Brace For (CHR) Impact (July 25, 2017)

Welcome to Add Lib, your Tuesday report on POP! Goes The Charts that’s mad about CHR/Top 40 adds, based on the station data provided by Mediabase 24/7 and Add Board. This week: Louis Tomlinson and some new pals get “Back” to work, plus Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul try for a second “Radio” hit! Check out the top new tunes at radio for the last impact date of July:

LOOK WHO’S “BACK”: Earlier this year, Louis Tomlinson reached the top 40 in a collaboration with Steve Aoki. The track, titled “Just Hold On”, didn’t exactly maintain a firm grip on the chart, peaking at #32 in March. However, the one-time member of One Direction returns with some new pals, Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, as “Back To You” leads the week’s report at Top 40 radio with 60 adds. Of course, Tomlinson’s former bandmate, Liam Payne, remains in the top ten with the blazing “Get Low”, a collaboration with Zedd. It scores another 34 adds on the latest update, good for fourth place. With Harry Styles and his new single “Two Ghosts” impacting here in early August, and Niall Horan‘s “Slow Hands” marching toward the top ten, it’s all up to ZAYN to get back in the race to complete a certain achievement that hasn’t happened since the end of 1974, but I’ll save that for another time. In the meantime, all directions are leading to success for the members of one of the biggest boy bands of all-time.

“RADIO” DAZE: Just sneaking into the bottom of this week’s top ten tracks at the format is a new remix of “Subeme La Radio”, a Spanish-language hit for Enrique Iglesias that finds him paired again with Sean Paul. In 2014, another Iglesias hit, “Bailando”, got to #9 that September, thanks in part to an English remix featuring Paul. Will lightning strike twice for the two amigos? With its 15 stations on impact, the recent chart-topper from the Spanish list is off to a decent start, though it’s a little too early to tell what it will do in the long run. I suppose we can leave it at a “Continuará…” for now.

Next week, the Alternative crossover hit from Portugal. The Man will be eyeing the top spot on the list, as it officially impacts on Tuesday. Who has what it takes to top the Most Added report? Find out real soon.
